Some of the points made in that article are interesting. One is that the criticism can now be directly expressed on social media. I think the implication is that you don't actually have to go out and protest. So, if it becomes a "thing" to bash Em, then it could have some serious consequences for his image/sales. The second thing is that "he's done it all before, and he has nothing new". Which is also serious if it becomes a "thing" because that would mean he is irrelevant and can't much influence pop-culture anymore.

Atone wrote:My argument makes perfect sense

Eminem rapped about raping his mother, killing his wife, and all sorts of other crazy shit and wasn't forced to change anything and won a ton of awards

Rick Ross raps about putting a roofi in a drink and loses a shoe deal, everybody goes ape shit, and he's forced to change the lyric or whatever happened with the song,

Eminem get's a pass for way to much and his fans see nothing wrong with it,
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Another example of white privilage vs black privilage, Stone Cold Steve Austin beat his wife, did his career end? no, in fact he still sold millions of merch, headlined ppv events, and now has his own podcast. This

Chris Brown beats Rihanna and goes thru HELL for years trying to get his career back, Ray Rice KO's his wife, NFL fires him,

White celeb beat his wife and is still beloved, black guy beats girlfriend/wife and everybody damns them to hell

Your argument makes no sense as Eminem has dealt with all the controversy because of his lyrics and music all those years ago for even less things you've just mentioned like the use of the word faggot. Eminem doesn't get away with it because he is white! What kind of generic, moronic, racist statement that is, ridiculous. Eminem gets away it because during all the controversy surrounding him In year 2000 for his lyrics, he didn't back down or apologize for
It and kept on stating through his music the reasons behind all the madness and lyrics. Therefore people with a brain accepted it's a part of Eminem and people got on with it apart from a few who still don't like you. Rick Ross apologies for a lyric, more fool him for backing down and giving in. Not due to his skin colour, absurd to even suggest it has to do with colour. Just a cop out to back your nonsense argument.

The media doesn't make sense.

It's Eminem lyrics. You shouldn't pay attention it to--yada yada, don't take it seriously--this or that

That's true.

But if you're gonna get pissy about something, how can these people sleep at night knowing they're causing a ruckus over the Lana Del Rey thing when Eminem mentioned the Tony Stewart accident?

These people are backwards, I swear. You'd think the headlines would read

"INFAMOUS RAP STAR EMINEM MAKES LIGHT OF TONY STEWART MURDER ACCIDENT"

Eminem rapping about punching a woman in the face, people are cool with it, whatever right? ok now, let's say it was a black rapper, idk who's popular right now? uhh, it may work for Young Thug cuz i mean, nobody can tell what the fuck he's saying 90% of the time anyways, but, say it's somebody like Rick Ross, he already got alot of shit for rapping about puttin a roofi in a girls drink, which, was laughable compared to Eminem rapping about raping his own mother.

And then you have the Build a bear line, again, give that line to a black rapper such as Rick Ross, people are going to flip and say Rick Ross is a scum bag and it's gonna cost him alot of deals with whatever clothing lines he's with or whatever, but Eminem says it and he get's a pass?

Honestly i'm tired of seeing people stick up for Eminem and say it's ok for him to get away with the shit he gets away with but when other rappers say something alot less controversail it becomes a major news story and labels go ape shit crazy and canel shit and whatever, it aint right, yeah, Eminem is a future legend, the dude had alot of talent and put out a couple hot albums, but that shouldn't mean he can get away with more shit.

the stans on this site, as well as twitter, are beyond annoying, making it as if Eminem should have more privilages than other rappers, and be treated differently.

your argument make absolutely no sense,.

bigray is right your argument doesn't make sense. There's a clear difference in intention between Rick Ross raping a girl in the context of the song and Eminems whole shock value thing. Eminems whole shtick is is to be outlandish and sarcastic. Rick Ross was not. People get mad salty when eminem says anything offensive. There's nothing to let him get away with because what he's doing isn't a big deal, it's supposed to be ridiculous and funny because of how ridiculous it is.

He will have the same thing to rap about again.

I wonder what he's thinking with regard to the direction he wants to take his music. He surely couldn't have given up on coming with some completely new topics.
