True, but the beats have to compliment the lyrics to make it good MUSIC, you know. If the lyrics are the best in the world and the beats are the worst, it still wouldn't be a good, enjoyable, listenable album.

Ummm....beats craft the direction that a artist will take when writing a song. Beats are quite fuckin important.

Well I think an album's worth of "Almost Famous" and "Cinderella Man" quality would be better than GTC quality. I'm sick to death of his personal raps, he needs to think bigger now.

But with Recovery, I think he did have an album of high-calibre songs, the only real problem IMO was the production. Yes it had its lyrical flaws but it's pretty consistent of a high standard.

I think the producers or rather, the amount he used, ruined that album.

I agree that the production wasn't top notch on Recovery, but Khalil definitely impressed me the most. IMO, all of his beats were above average. Now if Em can get Khalil, Just Blaze, and perhaps Kanye to do the majority of the production for his next album, then I'm certain the beats would be phenomenal. I also wouldn't mind if Em produced some of the beats. But even then, it'll depend on Em's flow and lyricism.

No way did Porter have the worst.

That award goes to Boi-1da and his slaughtering of "Not Afraid" with those tacky bedroom drums. Another replica toy track all those producers make.

Em improved it with a piano addition but, have you heard it live? it sounds x100 better. If Em had produced that track it would be so much better.

Porter had one of the best beats.

Without a doubt Khalil was probably my favourite on there.

I think if Em worked closely with another producer that would be very interesting also. But I hate it when there's 5-10 + producers on one album, the more sounds you have the less consistent it's going to sound. It just dilutes the focus more and more.

But Em + 1 / 2 others all working towards a single-vision would be very interesting and I think could produce his most powerful album yet. In terms of sound at least. So far though, TES > * and that's all him. Aside from a few Dre tracks. He always produces best for himself.

Tired of reading the BS about "nostalgia" being why people rank his old albums so highly compared to his newer ones.

Anyone who knows anything about rap or lyricism in general knows nothing he has done the past 8 years even touches his earlier work. It has nothing to do with "nostalgia." I didn't even start listening to Eminem until 2000...and I didn't REALLY start getting into him until my senior year of HS (02-03), yet my favorite album is SSLP. Good is good and bad is bad.

Bullshit.

On Fire's beat was a highlight. I generally like all the beats, but On Fire's beat was insane

Like I said earlier in this thread, an Eminem album exclusively produced by Kanye West would be incredible. If both of them were on the top of their game, it would almost certainly be an instant classic. (and I don't use that term lightly)
