Then the people kill Relapse because they hate it. But, Recovery goes to heaven while Relapse goes to hell.

Recovery: Wins / Relapse: Loses.

I like Relapse, but it just doesn't compare to his earlier work. Even if it is more lyrical the subject matter for me isn't as intriguing. I don't hate Relapse, but it doesn't hold a candle to Pre-Encore stuff.

"fuck the words, you don't listen to 'em anyway"

is that referance of Relapse?

Or lyrical hip-hop just in general. He is saying "you are just listening to the beat, and not even listening to me talking about crazy shit.". Kinda like on "Bitch" from D12 World.

it wasnt Relapse destroyed his rep it was Encore. what a horrible childish album. yes there where a few good tracks from Encore but majority of the album was horrible

same song and dance is such an underrated song...

agree with the op on everything :y:

Also wanted to add this verse to what the op posted :

Better try to stay wide awake
Or you might end up found dead by the lake
Soon as you lay me down to sleep, bitches soul, I'ma try to take
Pray for light today, right away, why do they try to fight today?
I must make them pay twice as much
Might as well put the knife away

Now I use power tools, how about now while you in the shower?
Scour you for six hours till outage of power outlets
How did you figure out I was down in your basement now?
Ya must've just heard the sound
Of my stomach growlin' from down there

Holler, there's no one fowler
Bound ya thats how they they found ya' face down in the tub
I drown ya with piles of downers around ya
Such nostalgia and powers, such prowess, look how you cowered
Jumped out on you now like I was a Jawa from fuckin' 'Star Wars'

Jaba the hut, be, de, ba, ba, be, de, ba, ba, it's time to die, die
Ought to not even bother to scream, it don't even matter
Amazin' when grazin' skin with these razorblades he waves at ya'
Not your everyday Damien, bathe me in holy water

Nothin' like Son of Sam, so please understand there's no gun in hand
Where's the thrill in the hunt?
There's no fun in that, here I come with ax
want to act like lumberjack, when I'm hackin' 'em up with that
What was that? Dial 911, someone's comin' in from the back

sickest verse hes ever spit, in any song. ever.

Prove me wrong.

I appreciate the lyricism and story telling of these songs and i by no means disagree with your points, you used great examples to prove your case however i still must disagree with ur opinion on this being some of his best work, Em unfortunately made the mistake of constantly using these topics and constantly using these accents and after awhile it becomes quite repetitive. Em has always been known to use different flows n always covers an array of topics on his albums with the exception of relapse. There's so many songs like this on relapse that by the time u hear something like "beautiful" its like a breath of fresh air to finally hear something different, that song itself doesnt even fit well with the album's overall sound - in other words..Relapse has very little replay value, at least to the casual listener whos not a stan. I mean after all Eminem is a MAINSTREAM rapper and has an audience consisted of millions with different tastes, likes, and dislikes that he has to attempt to please, in this case he failed to do so.

Good read, thanks for putting a lot into that OP :y:

I like the horrorcore em, but the accent really did take away from some songs. 3am it worked great, buffalo bill was amazing, but stay wide awake, yes its a lyrical masterpiece, the hook is dope as hell (but almost doesn't fit slightly for some reason with me), but the accent makes this not have as much replay value. I guess I enjoyed the horrorcore style of say kim, 97 B&C, and other shit on the mmlp/sslp over relapse, tho as a concept album and lyrically it is incredible and I can't deny that. But recovery has so much more appeal to me, it has replay value everywhere, and is just something I listen to a lot, and that alone makes this better than relapse for me, in the terms I just stated :y:

He shouldn't have given a fuck.

He should have said "'Cause I don't give a fuck if you don't like my shit, 'cause I was flushing the drugs out when I wrote this, so suck my dick".
