Relapse is fucking shit.

Hated it when it was released, and I still feel the same today.

True to a extent but MMLP and Emshow even encore was credited for being a 'lyrical genius album' or what ever. Were as relapse is better than all them lyrically.Annoying

^^you have got to be kidding to think relapse is better than mmlp or the eminem show lyrically just because he rhymes a shitload or words or use intricate rhyme structure does not make the album better lyrically , sure on technical skill it is light years ahead of mmlp and the Eminem show, but lyrically fuck no!

If you read my post you would've noticed that I said you cannot compare his albums to one another... they are ALL different, and great in their own ways.

Today, I decided to listen to the radio for the first time in what feels like forever (a good kind of forever) and the guy was saying, "I think it's great to have Eminem back on the radio" and he was saying how Em's dope and shit, then he's like, "But let's be real for a sec, coming from a huge Eminem fan myself, I gotta admit that Relapsed sucked".

I got so fuckin pissed off that I went on a 15 minute rant to my brother about how fuckin stupid people are and how badly I wanna line them up in a straight line with their heads duct taped side-to-side and shoot one massive bullet through all their skulls, hopefully severing their little brains. Fuckin cunts.

I'm a huge Eminem fan myself, but yes Relapse DID suck, IMO.

Relapse ruined his fucking comeback. Fuck the CAB leak, he should have returned out of the blue with Despicable.

I listened to Relapse once, I was like "WTF?".. A few months later, it annoyed me worse. I thought the only dent in his legacy was Encore, and thought he learned from it after all the bad reception... Then he hurt his legacy more with Relapse.

I mean what kind of hype.. Full album full of Dre beats, 5 years since his last solo album.. I stayed all night to hear We Made You.. Fuck multis, I don't give a fuck about a "orgasmic class flow" if he sounds like an idiot and talks about eating people and has tired ass concepts like My Mom. I know people hate the word swag, but where did his swag from TES go?

Very good points, but nothing can make me like the album. It's not an album that most people will "get". But for those that "get it" will of course love it and that's fine.

Relapse TOO different. Taking creativity to the extremes can sometimes make you fall short in other areas. I respect him for changing his style on each album.. But I fell in love with Eminem's music for other reasons. Relapse didn't evoke any emotion from me, I couldn't relate to anything (except for Beautiful, but that didn't even fit on the album really).

“A classic is something that everybody wants to have read and nobody wants to read.” -Mark Twain
That's how I feel about the album, it's worthy of the praise for it's creativity, but it ain't cutting it for me. What's the point of coming back so hard lyrically if no one will acknowledge it because they can't stand the album.. I mean, the general consensus reaction of this album being bad should have been expected.

While I like what you stated in this whole post, the quoted part I think doesn't fit with this subject. Taking from the mark twain quote, he is talking about books, which is much different than music. A book takes a lot of time to read, while an album takes roughly an hour. The mmlp is considered a classic, and I would bet no more than 5% of people who listen to em or rap in general would say they know it's a classic, but wouldn't take the time to listen. Also, in using the quote, you imply relapse is considered a classic album, which it obviously is not in terms of a general consensus by fans, other rappers and critics.

I agree with pretty much everything else you stated prior tho :y:

@Menzo :b:

I knew before putting that quote in my post that it didn't work as well as I wanted it to.. But I meant that sometimes things get such crazy praise, yet they kind of make you scratch your head. Similar to some movies at the Oscars, they get so much praise, but they're pretentious. If anything that quote can be applied to Kanye Wests new album.

Relapse is worthy of some praise, and I see why, but its not something that I'm going to re-play. Damnit Mark Twain. lol :b:

This is just my opinoun but I think u guys are so pissed that so many people think Relapse is shit your giving it more credit then it deserves to compensate. As an overall album Recovery is better but Relapse is still good
