What does eminem's music mean to you?

Im 14, i havent had drugs (yet), and i dont live a particularly 'hard' life, so when i talk about eminem most of my freinds say "why do you like his stuff, its not like you've done any of these things". I guess they're right, but for some reason i cant stop listening to em's music, even though i dunno why.
I dont know about you guys but i find it hard to work out why i love em's music so much, but what i wanna know is what makes you guys listen to it, and how can you relate to it?

Eminem's music means to me that I can say what I like without giving a fuck and shows me that you can get through anything if you really want to. He inspires me completely.

First of all his music is entertainment for me. I can't relate to almost anything he says in his songs ( i never did drugs, got drunk etc.) But this person made me learn English ( I still don't understand the whole song when i listen to it without the text but I understand interviews without translation). I'm not sure if this is what you were getting at, but I did find that when I became full-on obsessed, that I started wearing the same clothes as him, I cut my hair really short like his, and I speak like him now, and I got more "popular", in a way, as a result of that.

I didn't get really popular, but people who used to never talk to me started talking to me all of a sudden, and I got picked on a lot less, which I think was a result of my changing of appearance, etc. I'm not sure if that's what you meant though, but that's what happened to me.

his music is real, compared to most artists out there. the fact that he actually takes time out to really think about his lyrics, unlike people who get handed shit written for them.

i'm 16, and i've been listening to em since i was 6, so most of my life really.
i went through alot of shit when i was young(er), and i always knew that when i was at my lowest i could listen to em and feel better - maybe kuz he went through worse than i did, or kuz he made everything seem so funny, it took the edge of the shit that was happening.

And then I discovered Em, and I became properly obsessed with him, and suddenly, I had a thing! So I gradually became more and more known, people said I had gotten funny and I actually became popular!

So thanks to Marshall, people think I'm really funny now, I've made many more friends and a lot of people call me Staan.

Thats one of the reasons that I think I'll always be a huge fan.

that makes you both sound like huge tools... I'm obsessed with em as much as any of you but i dont plan on changing my life or the way i act because of it. the only thing eminem contributed in changing was my attitude toward what people think of me. i no longer worry so much about being the cool kid at school because who gives a fuck ill never see these people again. i'm a smart kid and i think to understand eminem (or any respectable rapper's) music fully you have to be more perceptive than the average joe. although i dont claim to understand it all completely since there are many references to old school actors, events, culture, etc. in his music.
don't change yourself for someone. especially if it's someone you haven't meant or someone who doesn't love you back

I've been through the whole pill ordeal. I got hooked 3 years ago when I started taking vics for kidney stones. Took about 2 and a half years but I finally got the will power to beat it. He was and is definitely an inspiration.
