it's a story, it rhymes, no punchlines and metaphors, just a story

Simpler and better IMO

I know, why is it a disaster lyrically? Cuz it doesn't have complex rhymes and metaphors in?

Difficult is terrible rhyme-wise. I mean, yeah, if you look at it from a different angle, lyrically, it is good as in, it's a tribute to his deceased friend. But, besides the content the song is bad lyrically.

Technically it's not good because it's not meant to be. There's not any attempt to use multies or come up with cool rhyme patterns or metaphors.

But the lyrics are great because the lyrics tell a story and evoke emotion. Similar to I Need A Doctor, it's a storytelling song and the lyrics permeate with me personally much more than other songs that are aimed to show off his technical skill.

RKOunion wrote:Agreed. While listening to Boys 2.0 I was begging he wouldn't use thse punchlines, sadly he even begins the verse with them.

He always tries to hard with them but fails.

I think he's clearly influenced with those Young Money punchlines and I don't know why he of all rappers finds them amusing.

Why do I hear the sound of toilets flushing
Some shit is going down

Just cringe-worthy. How the hell did he write those lines and thought "This is brilliant".

My take on that:
I thought it was great, cuz it was a punchline inside of a descriptive line. What i got from that song is who ever this chick was, she was foolin around with drugs or alcohol. Just from dealing with alot of addicts in my life they usually go in the bathroom and flush the toilet to drowned the sound of sniffing shit. So for me the punchline was just an additive. I could be reaching but thats the way I see that song. :coffee:

The lyrics on Difficult get kind of ameteur and generic at times. If he wasn't totally drugged out of his mind at the time, he could've made Difficult the best song of his career but the generic and simple lyrics bring it down (not talking about rhymes here). I honestly, don't feel emotion until Em says "Doody, that's what we call each other" and so on.

Like I said, if you look at it from another angle as in "it tells a story" then fine it's somewhat decent lyrically. But, it's not like Em pulled off his storytelling in this song like he did with Stan. His storytelling was kind of amateur too.

Em telling a story > Em trying to be lyrically great, but saying nothing.

That's just me though... :coffee:

It's one of his lyrical best son better than some of the stuff on Recovery.

He had his reasons for not putting difficult on recovery the song wasn't for the fans to hear.

Lyrically difficult its TERRIBLE. The flow is of and on, so many one syllable ryhmes. And the rhyming scheme was ALLLLL over the place, there was no rhyme or reason to it. The line "doodie, you were some time moody" is like nails on a calkboard to me. If the track wasnt so emotional and wasnt extremely deep it would be very bad imo. The whole meaning behind the song is what makes it, lyrically and schematically its garbage.

the lyrics were perfect for what the song was about...

It'd be better if he said: rememebr that jacket u left at my wedding I picked it up and smell it

then inserting a worldplay punchline multi-syllabled rhyme that show he miss proof

What? I guess you're being sarcastic but you're not doing it well :coffee:

And it's "And this may sound a little strange but I'ma tell it, I found the jacket you..." ;)

some of the punchlines he's had are amazing and some are just throwaways that most people could probably think of.

+ speaking of punches on 2.0 boys, if you lower the bar "like limbo", isn't that a good thing?

i guess thats why em is stooping (HAHAH, GET IT?) to that level with the weak punchlines
