I remember some quote from Proof before Encore dropped, talking about how mindblowing the album was. Everyone was so psyched. And then, we got Encore.

I wish I could find that quote.

But it was. It blew my mind how bad it was.

Encore was absolutely terrible coming after 3 classics. But in retrospect, it still had some good stuff.

Never Enough, Yellow Brick Road, Like Toy Soldiers, Mosh, Spend Some Time, Mockingbird, I enjoyed these.

He should have just taken off Big Weenie, Ass Like That, My First Single, and added the three bonus tracks to the regular tracklist.

Encore's legacy is lost potential... What could have been... :(

Before it came out, he called Welcome To Our House a "monster" of an album.

Time to lower my forecasts...

Encore could've been a great album. Knock of those tracks above as well as Crazy in Love and One Shot Two Shot. Add We As Americans and Love you More. When I'm Gone could've been on there as well, but I guess he recorded that at a different period. His verses on D12 World were so promising back then and we ended up with Encore. The Encore track was poor as well considering how headline grabbing it was back then. Who knows what we'll get with MMLP2. Most people on here will enjoy the album and get replay value, but I doubt we're going to see him match the level he set on his first three efforts. That Em is long gone :coffee:

does anyone ever think that maybe Encore was done slightly on purpose, Em was sick of the fame and being hounded, maybe subconsciously he sabotaged his name in the hope he would fall from everybody's eyes?
"It aint over till i say it's over, enough when i say enough" - seriously though em, enough is enough, quit your shouting.

no, i think he was just constantly high and he thought stupid random shit could pass off as slim shady

i dont think encore was a deliberate attempt to get rid of his fame, but his hunger for fame is certainly gone.

hmmmm, a small part of me genuinely thinks he over-exagerates how much he was into them... don't get me wrong, i believe he OD'd but you don't need to be on a pills for a long time to OD, I'm just not entirely sure how much of it is complete truth... it's like his mother... I believe a combination of both hers and his story is true, she wasn't the best mother but he wasn't the best son either and poked jokes at her to fit a character :/

You don't see the serious drastic change in his music from 8 Mile Soundtrack and Eminem Show to D12 World and Encore though??? Something changed. I truly think it was a combination of abusing too many drugs at that time and........50 Cent. He really got big in 03' and I think that changed Ems direction as an artist for some reason.

D12 World was pretty weak. Em should have taken How Come, one of the best tracks on the album, and put it on Encore.

in some forums double posts automatically merge into a one post, tr should have that too because editing is so cumbersome if you catch my drift

His verses on D12 world were not THAT promising, also really? You wanna take off Crazy in Love, out of all the Encore songs? I can support getting rid of One Shot Two Shot tho.
