I am talking about relevance in a literal sense. Music has become formulaic and dumb.

Songs about fighting inner demons, love, emotion and biting back are emotionally enjoyable, but irrelevant due to their sheer volume of production. The moment a track like this is made (unless it is as stylistic as Kim) it gets lost in an ever expanding ocean of regurgitation.

It is very difficult for artists to maintain their initial relevance when they break through, and usually if they continue to adapt and evolve away from the radio their sales suffer.
So arguably staying in the pop sphere only maintains a superficial notion of relevance.

Both a political album or an album about Detroit would be relevant for Eminem to make, and further show that he can evolve past his first three albums (note: relapse had a different sound, but it really was meaningless)
"Oh, he'll give us what we need.
It may not be what we want."

I think Eminem seems to be doing well with Bezerk in downloads and streaming. Fans have no control over radio play, and unfortunately Eminem doesn't get a lot of urban radio access and has to get played through pop outlets(and Bezerk isn't very poppy).

Frankly, it's doing better at radio than I expected.

These predictions don't mean much to me. The predictions they make the week the album comes out, based on 1 or 2 day sales are more reliable.

They've done that to a lot of Em's songs, I've noticed...or just rap in general. "Lighters" was split in half for both of them, even Snoop Dogg's verse on "California Girls" was completely removed.

that blows,

well at least he gets radio play, its a shame most dont know about the lamar/khloe line

I hope if they release another song/single it's sooner than one week before the release because the album will have leaked by then I'd say.

I think it'll be close to a milli. The fact that the album is named after a classic will really boast the sales.

Right now I don't see him getting 700k on the current promotion. October is hopefully going to be a big month for him though and hopefully we see some interviews as well as the cypher so that may help. I would love him to sell more than Gaga but I can't see that happening, ah well!
But what am I gonna do when the rage is gone and the lights go out in that trailer park?

My prediction is that first week sales for MMLP2 will exceed Recovery because Em gained and regained a lot of fans since then, but Recovery will be the one to have more longevity because it had many singles that had mass appeal, encouraging casual listeners to pick it up later.

I'll say his sales will be 850k AT LEAST, depending on his promotion between now and the release.

We're gonna rock this house until we knock it down
So turn the volume loud, cause it's mayhem 'til the a.m.
So baby make just like K-Fed and let yourself go, let yourself go
Say fuck it before we kick the bucket
Life's too short to not go for broke

Go Berzerk!
