Relapse is definitely not a classic.. but the production is near perfect and Em from a technical stand point was probably in one of his finest moments.. but again.. it was overly technical to a fault... it just wasn't great music.

There are some AMAZING songs on Relapse though.. and Recovery's issue is mainly production, and it's hard to replay a song that he is screaming 100% of the time.. that's I guess obvious in the fact I like Ridaz, On Fire, Seduction.. tracks where he toned it down best.

Like I said the best thing i got from Rap God is that he can use his normal voice.. that IMO is priceless..

Relapse went from hated to overrated as fuck by fans, and Recovery went from being overrated and hailed a classic for some reason, to completely underrated in about a year.

I love Relapse, but the overwhelming appraisal here is really a huge turn off and makes me see how much of a classic it isn't. It's an enjoyable album, slick flows and amazing beats coupled with great rhyming and some nifty concepts but that's all.

I have noticed by now I differ in terms of taste when it comes to newer Em, with the people here, but I agree.

There's some stuff on Relapse I really love, and some stuff I really dislike. He's got great wordplay and rhymes as always, but the accent was too much for me. I really wish he would have used the full blown accent on maybe 3-4 tracks at most, and used the hint of the accent with a normal voice like on Music Box, Elevator, Deja Vu. Deja Vu is probably one of my favorite Em hooks of all time.

I think Deja Vu and Same Song & Dance have greater replay value. We'll see how this holds up in three years lmao, it's still too early to tell.

The problem is Em can't put it all 100% together like he did on SSLP, MMLP, TES, and to a lesser degree, 8 Mile. Encore had some gems and his worst shit ever to go along with it. Relapse had some dope stuff, but he seemed content on doing an accent 90% of the time that really missed with the overwhelming majority IMO. Recovery had some great rhyming, but he used the worst production he's ever used for that album.

HTS was the closest for me. Welcome 2 Hell, Fast Lane, Above the Law, Loud Noises, Living Proof was fire to me. Than he had the slower but still funny in a dark way stuff like Reunion, another comedic song with the drugs I'm On Everything, where he and Royce went HAM in the end. And a girl hook on a Khalil beat which actually sounded dope as fuck, Echo.

But....he still had Lighters and Take From Me on HTS, which keeps it from being incredible for me.

Shit i didn't mean to double post..
You're right that's not exactly the best example of him not yelling at the mic. I should say that's one of the rare good beats on the album lol IMO at least.

There are songs I like where he was yelling I suppose.. It's just it being overused I should say.. The Stannery blinds me sometimes, I don't know what I want from Eminem right now because he hasn't given it to me yet :sweating:

***EDIT
Fuck these 502 issues first off.. damn stannery in that anticipation thread..
***
I mean So Bad.. I had to go grab my iPod I was like F*** am I thinking of the wrong song or something? I dont remember him yelling and the beat was dope... I really dont listen to Recovery by choice so I mix up the names sometimes.

I played Berzerk more to be honest, but then again I'm purposely staying away from the songs cause I want them to remain fresh for when the album drops.

Rap God is great to listen to but I worry after ive listened to it 100 times or so, it will lose its replay value while MMLP got better with each listen and im bumping the album right now!

Highest replay value in 10yrs? Don't agree. We know last 10 yrs weren't like 2000-2002, but he dropped pretty dope songs along the way with replay value as high as Rap God. Some even higher.
