I think they both probably still really really dislike each other. And will never be friends or really be a part of each others lives.

It's just Em is getting old. And his Mom is sick and Em has more regrets than he knows what to do with.


When someone gets sick, you tend to focus on the good times. And while I'm sure they are few and far in between with Em and his mom, there are some.

He looks at how hard raising kids are, he looks at all the mistakes he has made and it's made him a little more understanding towards her.

But there is too much hurt there. That bridge won't be fixed. Em's just trying to get the hurt out. The same hurt, but instead of pain towards the way he was raised, hurt that he has to live with those memories and broken family for the rest of his life.
