This is – by far – the most – acceptable article on this topic. Seriously guys, this one is awesome when compared to the articles that state complete bullshit and contain hate speech towards a guy who in their opinion is using hate speech.

I understand not liking an artist for what they say on a record. I do. I don't listen to Dead Prez anymore after some of the racist shit they said. But things have to be put in perspective. Was actual malice meant? Were the lyrics meant to be taken the way you interpret it as? If not, then at least try to build a bridge and explain why they shouldn't say it. No offense, but it really isn't imo. All he is doing is recycling tired (and basically disproven) arguments that video games make kids kill people, smothered in a thick layer of passive aggression. He covers his tracks acting like he is neutral in the situation by saying "you have a right to say these things" again and again, but it's obvious that his message does not agree with that. That last little section sums it up when he says "Nobody is saying these tragedies are your fault....but you have to admit you have blood on your hands". It's a disguise to act like he isn't pointing fingers, but he is. Oh, don't worry I don't think it's your fault...but actually it is.

To be fair, I cringe whenever I hear anyone say that word in reality or message boards etc.

But I think music is something different in that he's portraying a character and especially in this album, trying to delve into some of that underground battling culture he grew up in.

Nobody criticises films with the "n word" in it, if it's portraying a culture authentically.

But the point probably remains that I wish he hadn't used that word because it's pretty needless and homophobia is fucking retarded.
