If somebody said "kill you is about global warming" would you take the time to correct them? Or would you think that its possible you misunderstood them because Its impossible for anyone to actually think that...

In this case, this person actually thought kill you was about global warming and you took the time to correct them. Sorry for thinking you misunderstood.

Well if somebody said that, I would simply ask how / why they thought that.

But, I know why cocaine2011 thought that and it's not as out of the blue as that example. Because, she got that perception from the title, which a lot of people I saw do with the same kinds of conclusions - especially early on.

So, whilst the song isn't about that, I still know where she got the perception (as I saw a post from her in a different thread explaining her perception further) therefore it was simply a case of laying out the actual concept. It's not like it was the nuttiest theory thinkable.

Yeah I kinda feel bad for attacking him first. The dude knows his shit (even if he comes off as an arrogant asshole). Too bad I've ruined the chance to show him that I know my shit too because he probably thinks I'm just an idiot. I've seen him say stupid shit and I've seen him say some really smart shit too. I don't do that to people. I don't know why you think I do and in fact, that's what I initially got pissed at you for doing in that thread where I didn't get that line. Don't even get back into that, you say you were trolling - I don't believe you, but, whatever who cares.

But, I wouldn't quote somebody to gloat at their misconception. I just care about the truth, in every sense, so if I see a misconception or a misrepresentation, since this is a discussion ground - I occasionally correct or give my view on why I think it's incorrect.

I think a lot of people think because I don't type like I'm on msn that the intentions are arrogant or something. I just like to sound as clear and logical as possible, and the clearer and often more detailed the grammar / descriptions are, the more possible that's made.

But I would cringe inside if I were to actually 'chew her up'. There's no need for it. Knowledge isn't intelligence, it's just knowledge. So a misconception or wrong fact doesn't make somebody unintelligent, so I would never highlight or present it that way,
