From a production standpoint, this has to be one of the most poorly put together albums ever. I could have made these beats on FruityLoop and sent them to Eminem via. email for his approval. Or his beat selection is horrid, whatever the case is, the beats are completely wack. If I were to sum this album up in one word, cartoonish.

Just to put Encore in context, here were some other 2004 rap releases:

Madvillainy
The Grind Date
Murs 3:16, 9th edition
College Dropout
The Carter

Where does Encore rank amongst those CD's?

Anyway, on to the CD.

Curtains Up: Not a bad intro, could be the only track I have nothing negative to say about.

Evil Deeds:

Here we go now, doe see doe now, curtains up, the show must go now
Ring around the rosie, the shows over, you can all go home now
But the curtain just don't close for me, this ain't how fame is supposed to be
Where's the switch I could just turn off and on, this ain't what I chose to be

We get it. You made it very clear on MMLP with 'The Way I Am' and TES with 'Say Goodbye to Hollywood'. Overall, decent track. A throw away song, not album worthy in my opinion. Repetitive subject matter, absolutely no replay value with the constant echoing of words.

Never Enough:

I'm thankful for the talent in which God gave me
And I'm thankful for the environment that he placed me

Almost ironic. Easily the most talented emcee to ever bless the mic yet has the audacity to put out something as half assed as Encore. Anyway, to the sum the track up, 50 cent out staged Eminem. That's all I have to say about this track.

Yellow Brick Road:

Again, this album is riddled with atrocious beats. One of the only tracks on the album that had the potential to be on his 2 previous releases. First verse was lame, everything from the second verse on was great. Annoying chorus, choppy flow, stupid beat collection, and a burp to signify the tracks importance.

Great track. I see no need to dissect the up and downs of the track.

Something the CD was severely lacking, passion. Eminem delivered, an exceptional beat coupled with great lyrics. His flow could have used some work but this track stands out well above the others.
