Lmfao at Asp tryin to burn Eminem for releasing cheesy singles and using John Lennon to knock him, he practically started that shit. See, now I had to go diss a legend just to get back to ya. You're making me as bad as yourselves.

 burn eminem? john lennon to knock him?

John Lennon was a great songwriter, wrote some of my favourite songs, like Imagine and Working Class Hero, the latter which you Asp probably never heard.

which asp prolly never heard?
But, his genius like Pacs and Biggie's was magnified by him getting assassinated. Nothing makes someone a legend quite as quickly as getting shot.

Lennon was had the country up and running protests for several years. The whole hippy movement,.. biggie and pac are nothing of the kind. (although i admit that tupac could be but got preoccupied with hate and beef)
It's like Art, the price of the paintings gain a lot more value after the artist is gone. Mark my words, when eminem does retire, get killed or just die. He will be looked back on as a legend. By everyone, not just me and the groupie, everyone in the hip-hop community. Because he blew new life into it when it was on it's dying legs.

Who said he isnt a legend of hip hop or that he wont be remembered for the matter or that he might not reach higher.. Your once again changing topic.

He however is no where near to being a monumental figure, as he has yet to do something for the music itself.

*Asp replied to Tash while posting, lol*

Yes, some of Eminems are more complex than Rakims. Lose Yourself, Till I Collapse, and Bully, are better than anything Rakim has done, *IMO*.

I dont give a fuck bout ur opinion, in two rappers that could lyrically be as equal, i said its blasphemy to compare em.

See, complex rhyming can't really get any more complex than it has, unless people start releasing songs with every word in every line rhyming. So yeah they are all equals, the only thing that sets people apart, is who can write the greatest tracks, while also staying complex.

People look at My Name Is, The Real Slim Shady and Without Me as shitty cheesy singles, but the complexity of the lyrics, the metaphores and the social satire, actually make them brilliant songs. Ok, they are delivered in a cheesy way, with catchy hooks, and I'll admit there' not my favourite Eminem tracks. But even these weak Eminem songs are still great.

I think EMinem, Rakim, Nas, and many other great rappers, are far more talented than John Lennon. Who gives a fuck if he organised marches and activists. Isn't it about the music, or not? He was a glorified pop star, he couldn't have wrote the complex rhymes written by some of the best emcees. His music touched more people and made an impact because he was commercially successful, without his fame and popularity, he wouldn't have affected as many people. Without being shot, he'd still be a legend because of his music, but being shot sure as hell cemented it.

Ironically....No funnier than comparing Eminems early tracks to Rakims later shit.

 ... those songs were garbage, they simply arent that enjoyable and the lyrics arent top of the line. many have done better, u just listning to eminem too much.

Lol, he didnt "organise them because he wanted to, his music brought a lot of people together to fight for a cause. Both Nas Rakim and any other rapper for the matter has yet to live up to that.

Good excuse for selling out.

yea exactly, that's what made him a rapper i really respected.. and the reason i still respect him is for his preview albums.. and a few tracks on no apologies.. but if i introduced to eminem thru encore i woulda never took a second glance.

I dont see why people would say he only puts good controversial music out,a balanced effort is all a music-fiend could ask, but pop-star bashing isnt anything interesting anymore anyway... we should get some hip hop for once, not a Show, we've had 3 show cds already and he's playing himself out with them like clowns repeating the same jokes over and over again.

I want to hear eminem co-labing with legends, not southern clowns, rhyming to nice mellow hip hop beats, not snappy commercial music with a drum-pattern, promoting hip hop, not a fucking label supermacy (he did that already and it sounded good in 2003, now that this is repeating and the artists got lazier it just sounds so washed out)

I completely agree with this point. My friends go to me "you're just copying Eminem".

Anyway, i'm only gonna make a short post about this.

I like Eminem's music, but since his last 3 albums his quality has declined a bit. Yes, he's still good, and i'm sure once his new album comes out it'll be good. But even so, Encore and stuff like Smack That are ruining his reputation for new listeners. If you were introduced to Eminem through Smack That or somethin you'd think he's shit, wouldn't you?

I like his music, but he's not a "living legend" or anything like that. :confusion: He's just a good musician (in my opinion), and i don't think this debate about who the better rapper is out of Eminem, Rakim, Jay-Z etc is the idea of this thread. The idea is whether he made a large impact on the genre, which i think he did as being the first mainstream continously successful white rapper, but nothing other than that.

No hate to anyone like
