I don't know if some of you realize how massive the U.S. is in population terms. There are more people living in California than all of Canada. While 100k+ may seem small, it is a lot.

^^ selling 102k first week in canada is like selling 1.4 million in usa

if you're big in america you're big in canada so he doesn't do much promo in either

he does alot of uk promo and by that i include concerts, festivals etc because that is the label's 2nd biggest eminem cashcow in the world behind the states and they want to keep it rolling in. and if you're big in the uk you're big in ireland so that is two birds killed with one stone

I think it's strange that he focuses his promotion so much outside of the US. Like in a country that he's going to do 100k first week in, how much more could he really increase that by doing promo there? An extra 20-30k? An equal percentage increase in sales between 2 different regions will give the region with more CD sales a higher increase. If you could increase sales by 10% in the US or increase 10% in the UK which should you pick? Obviously the US.

Yeah but I'm sure he has a team of analysts that determine where he has room for growth. If they thought he could push 1 mil in the US I'm sure they would have tried to do so. But his promotion was massive, let's not forget that. It's not like he just assumed he's move some units and said fuck it. He had huge banners in times square and shit. I can't even imagine what they paid to cover the side of a building with his picture tbh. With COD, the VMAs, SNL, and being the new theme song for Saturday Night Football...the dude was everywhere. At some point it will just become overkill.

some artists actually want to make music for the people... it's not ALL up to the label

I don't understand why Em isn't performing on The X Factor this weekend with him being in the UK around that time anyway. It's a shit show but a massive platform to promote the album to millions of people here.

Jonathan Ross will be cool but his ratings are dropping so for promotional purposes they could have done a lot better. I think he's now only the third biggest talk show host behind Graham Norton and Alan Carr.

It helps him when he comes to tour. He's been focusing heavily on European shows since 2010, I think he's played seven huge outdoor gigs in the UK alone in the past three years.

Chances are he'll be back to do some festivals/stadiums next summer so he's not only promoting the album but also his entire brand.

And since he's really big, his European interviews are still getting viewed by a lot of people in the US.

Yeah, good point. There must be some sort of cost/benefit analysis they go off of. Maybe promotion is just a lot more expensive in the US. I think he could push a million if they promoted even more, but they would be seeing declining profitability as the expenses grow faster than the sales. The most important thing for the label is to have the highest profit, not the highest sales, and that always means selling less than you could have. Fuck, he could have sold 2 million copies if Interscope spent enough money, but that would have been definitely to the point of losing money.

No, it's hopeless, I'm the denial that you're hopelessly in. When they say all of this is approaching its end. But you refuse to believe that it's over, here we go all over again.

What he lacks in technical skill though, which he still has a bit of, he more then makes up for in his passion and what he's talking about. The Heist is dope as fuck aside from maybe a track or two. Even the singles though they are overplayed, were light years better than the average hip hop single now days.

I do think The Heist will change the game.
