I still don't understand how people think Encore is better than Recovery, but whatever. It's all opinion, whatever.

Maybe because the production on Encore was pretty dope and despite being complete shit on some portions - notably the middle - he still was 'himself', insinuating he sold out/sacrificed his artistic integrity on Recovery. Also he didn't apologize for previous works (which at the time...would be impossible).

this. and the fact that the 7 or 8 good songs form encore are almost shitting on everything on recovery imo

Ewww, those songs are lazy as shit. Recovery > anything on Encore. Love You More is the only song I consider to be on par.

Well, I disagree. Songs like "Cinderella Man" and "Almost Famous" for me shit on everything he did from 2004 until Relapse. Conceptual, cinematic, powerful, lyrical, and most importantly - enjoyable.

i'll give you cinderella man, his flow is amazing but at the same time i think his flow on crazy in love is even better. almost famous is a classic no doubt. BUT the verse from spend some time is one of his best since TES, relapse included.

Probably cuz it looks like it was written around the TES era. Encore has its moments, I really really wish the intended songs didn't leak...the album would've been received so much more warmly.

well, you can't really say that the song is from the TES era or like 2002. we all know he started using drugs around 8 mile. now, what if he recorded that song around 2003 where he was on drugs. that would proof that he was still able to write good songs. like toy soldiers was recorded in 2004 which would basically proof again that he was capable of writing classics around that time. what I'm trying to say is that, just because he was on drugs back then doesn't mean he wasnt able to make songs like that in 2003 or 2004

Encore doesn't deserve to be glamorised in the slightest. Aside from a few songs, the album is rubbish. Being critical doesn't make you any less of an Eminem fan.
