Encore. And pretty easily in my opinion.
Outside of a couple of songs, there is nothing at all wrong with that album. Especially if you replace the "dumb" songs with the bonus tracks that were supposed to be on the album (We As Americans, ILYM, etc.)
Encore was essentially the spiritual successor to TES and while it is in no way as good as TES...it's nearly as entertaining to me and would have been the perfect follow-up album.

Relapse gets way too overrated here for me. Lyrically...it's an awesome album. And it has it little sparks of genius thrown around but I just can't connect with that album and Recovery like I can with everything else in Em's catalogue. And i'm including Encore.

Relapse

The others are either rated highly or they suck

And Relapse has sold millions of records, so you can't really it is underrated. It just doesn't get the respect it should because it doesn't sing about holding hands or failed relationships or any other shit lyrics 14 year old girls can post on their twitters.

No love for Slim Shady EP?
It's the birth of Shady and it's his least mentioned album, even the Re-Up is more popular around here.

I think those are great lyrics

As far as story telling, I also don't agree. I personally can't listen to Same Song and Dance anymore and I have no idea why (I listened to this song a fair amount when Relapse was first released), it's okay story telling I guess but I first of all don't think it's as good as YBR or LTS, this isn't a very arguable thing this is a mostly personal point.

Those are okay lyrics. Nothing interesting at all. It's just Em saying that he's awesome and mentioning how he "broke down barriers" for the fifty billionth time.

Okay storytelling? Fuck it. You are biased as shit.

I'm not biased, this is my honest opinion. There are some tracks that are on Relapse that are better than some of the best songs on Encore. I overall do not enjoy the album Relapse. I did at first but it loses its touch fast in my opinion. It has major replay issues that make the album in my opinion lose its touch after so long. I can't listen to Encore or Relapse all the way through though because they both aren't that good. However I by far feel that Encore is better. If we are picking out which is better by which has the best song Relapse wins. If we are picking out which album is the worst, which has the worst tracks Encore loses. However, I would much rather have a bunch of tracks I really like with some bad ones than a few ones I really like and the rest of the album is meh. Relapse isn't a bad album I'm not trying to bash it, I respect the album for what it is but I don't think that it is better than Encore. I've given Relapse plenty of chances and have tried to go back to it but the same result happens every time.

Also I feel like from the way you replied on story telling that you thought I was talking about Encore or didn't finish reading what I said. Encore doesn't have any story telling, I was talking about Like Toy Soldiers and Yellow Brick Road.

EndoveProduct wrote:Why are you trying to defend garbage? If a painter paints a pile of shit on a painting, you'd be the ONLY one trying to defend it and calling it art, and not to mention, you're defending the album quite poorly "don't know why I like the songs, I just do" "those lyrics are just a bad example"

If encore, despite a few songs, really was amazing. Someone would of agreed with you by now. But even Em himself knows it's weak compared to his older shit AND his newer shit

I'm not trying to 100% defend the album as much as stating my thoughts. I don't type a response magically thinking somebody's opinion will change. I'm trying to get my personal opinion across. Also there's a few people who agree with me on this forum and many more outside of the forum. Also on the whole Em says it's bad comment he also says Relapse is bad and when he says Encore his bad he pairs it with Relapse which implies that he has the same exact feelings on both of them.

Encore has great storytelling. On Yellow Brick Road. Like Toy Soldiers was nothing special or creative.

If this is an actual argument about QUALITY then Relapse shits all over Encore. Multiple times. However, if it's just how replayable the tracks are to YOU, then I can't argue on that.

encore is actually so uderated. yellow brick road, puke, never enough, like toy soldier, evil deeds and mockingbird are all great imo. the rest is eh but still.

relapse is also pretty underrated, but not as much as encore is

Relapse. :flutter:

Shit had some of his best verses on it, but everyone calls it trash for having accents in like 5 songs
Give it a few years, it'll be illmatic.
There's nothing else for me to say, my public adores me
Everybody bores me, they're just so corny
So at night before I sleep, I look in the mirror
The mirror grows lips and it whispers "Come nearer"

relapse is nice actually, i don't mind the accents, but there were like 10 songs about killing celebrities and hiding bodies. we only need like 1-3 of those per album lls

i actually liked the re-up. not a bad intro compared to some of his others, the pistol pistol remix was okay, and em's verses on jimmy crack corn were hilarious. plus it had that proof snippet AND no apologies, two very emotional tracks. even if shady 1.0 never exactly got off the ground, all in all it wasn't a bad mixtape. and he put it out in 06 at nearly the height of his addiction

I think Relapse is underrated. It's pretty solid. Encore has some brilliant tracks (Never Enough, Like Toy Soldiers) and some utter garbage (Big Weenie, Ass Like That)
