You can still mourn someone when they're away for a long time.

I think that 'when I'm gone' is meant to be left open for interpritation and it could have several meanings.

probably because it's touchy and its one of those things where u know what he means and you know what it implies but u can't prove he was trying to say that...theres the fact that he's Slim Shady...and he doesn't bite his tounge...but u can't prove thats the message he wanted to portray...and it was his first CD he put out (Aftermath/Interscope) so maybe he didnt want to come off that bad....if you notice that in his sophomore album Marshall Mathers LP on Criminal (Trk 18) "if it's not a rapper that I make it as, I'ma be a fuckin rapist in a Jason mask" an he was alot less reserved on tht album...so thts my thoughts on it
