What if Relapse/Recovery was a double album?

Postby Hubub153 » Jan 19th, '11, 00:54

Let's say that back in May 2009, relapse didn't drop. Eminem decided to record more material because he didn't think it was going to be a great CD. Then about a year later, with all the new "Recovery" material, he decides he has so much he will just make it a double album. The first CD being "Relapse" and the second being "Recovery"

Now this also means he would have had time to change some tracks around on Relapse. Songs like "Music Box", "Elevator", and possibly "Buffalo Bill" would have replaced some of the weaker tracks on Relapse. I also feel it would fix that problem people have with Beautiful "not fitting" on the CD. As it comes toward the end, starting the transition from the "relapsed" Eminem to the "recovered" Eminem. Overall I feel it would have improved how much I enjoyed both albums.

Now this isn't a thread to discuss which songs on relapse get added or replaced, or to compare either album. Just discuss how you feel your opinion on both CDs would have changed, or if you think it's a bad or good idea.

It would not work with lines like this

Encore I was on drugs, Relapse I was flushin' 'em out

Let's be honest, that last Relapse CD was "ehhhh"

Fuck my last CD that shit's in the TRASH

Relapse and Recovery are 2 seperate albums totally different

ones with drugs ones completely sober and recovering.

It wouldn't make sense. lol

That would actually be horrible

Cant combine all of 2009 accent druggy dark songs with 2010 recovery songs.

It would have been stupid, because they wouldn't have been coherent or gone together at all. It wouldn't be a double album, it'd be two unrelated albums just packaged together. It'd be like releasing Infinite/Encore as a double album...

It wouldn't make each individual album any better or worse. It would just be like getting a double album where you see two different sides of the same man. If he did that, though, then some of the lines in Recovery wouldn't work, like the lines that bash Relapse

Can't ever imagine Recovery + Relapse being put together

doesn't work that way

Relapse needed to happen to get to Recovery...

2009 vs 2010

theyre two opposite albums

Relapse though when Eminem came back :worship:

And sorry for double posting, but Relapse he wasn't on drugs...so they weren't "drugy" lmao. He was flushing them out, but he had still been 1 year sober, I think?

Yeah, the lines about Relapse wouldn't work. The themes would clash, and if he'd waited to release Relapse and then decided he wanted to do something like Recovery, I don't think he'd ever have released Relapse. He would have been into another mind set and wouldn't have wanted that out at that point.

So basically what I'm trying to say all the songs deserve to be on two seperate albums.

Relapse as it's own album and Recovery as its own album

to get more success and all. Time needed to pass so we got Recovery. It wouldn't make sense if both were a double album. Eminem needed to make a new fresh start..

I would get confused if both were on a double album, that'll actually be horrible.

Oh yeah, definitely. You can't have Recovery without Relapse. Relapse needed to be made

Yeah and time needed to pass like a year for fans and all :) When Em announced there would be no Relapse 2, everyone was wondering but then they bought Recovery and it was a totally different comeback and promotion/and instant HUGE success with 3x platinum. :worship:

I felt like 2009 and 2010 were different times for Eminem. 2009 brought him back with Relapse, and 2010 Recovery happened that was amazing.

It wouldn't work and sales wise it would not have done better than them being regular albums
