Reviews of Recovery & Relapse

These guys do some great video reviews and I thought that both of these Eminem reviews were pretty spot on. They definitely make some good points. The link is for the Recovery review, but they have the Relapse review further down the page. They give Recovery a 64/100 and Relapse an 84/100

Agree on Relapse, to some degree. Don't agree with Recovery at all

Any review that puts Relapse over Recovery I'll never really agree with

well that's pretty narrow-minded. it's the reasoning that matters. they seem to think the same thing that i have for a bit now, that Relapse has that "eminem feel" to it, while Recovery is just lacking that personality that Eminem gave all of his past releases. the absence of Dre is something that people will look back on as a negative.

I agree to the fullest extent on this. Em and Dre know how to make a classic album. Recovery is very good, but with production from Dre or just Em alone Recovery would have been alot more cohesive and brought the fullest out of Em's vocals. The main fault that people cite with Relapse is the direction it took. Recovery had direction, but it didn't have the execution.

It's not narrow minded in the sense that it's just a fact that I'd never agree with it. It would be narrow minded if I said "the review automatically sucks because it has a different opinion to mine" but I didn't say that. I'm not saying I wouldn't respect the reviewer's opinion, I'm just saying I'd never agree with it because on almost all levels I'd put Recovery ahead of Relapse.

The fact that one of them picked W.T.P. and Won't Back Down among the best tracks is saying a whole lot

I don't have a problem with W.T.P., I enjoy listening to it. But it's far from one of the best tracks off the album :coffee:

W.T.P. is the only track that really showcases Eminem's humor on Recovery, so i can justify that one...Won't Back Down never did catch on with me though
