That item of jewelry wasn't the typical bling you'd expect to find on a rapper -- it was Eminem's Alcoholics Anonymous pendant. Eminem was accepting the award for "Recovery," an album that viscerally details his past drug and alcohol problems, so it was nice to see him bring a piece of his own personal road to recovery to the Grammy spotlight.

I don't get why he rocks an AA pendant, on Relapse he said "I never had a problem with alcohol" or something like that. I was always under the impression that he wasn't an alcoholic, just a pill addict. I guess it's more symbolic than literal...

I really like the fact that he wore the pendant. Of course, it fits with the Recovery theme, but it's just so much more personal than the cross I've seen him wear. I had no idea what it was last night though. Saw it mentioned in some article earlier today.

He's said before he was addicted to alcohol but didn't drink because his pills were enough for him. Instead of drinking, he was popping pills. And AA is about Christianity anyway, it's bullshit really.

He is a Christian, but not overly religious. Very rarely does he mention religion at all, so it seems strange to see him wearing the cross. Even though he's apparently not much of an alcoholic, the AA pendant does tie into his little theme/story that he has going with Recovery...hence the title of Recovery.

Many people become somewhat religious after near death experiences such as him being 2 hours away from death. He has now come back at the top of the music world. To think only a few years ago he was so close to death that is a fucken miracle. So he probably thinks some sort of power helped him. Most people do after shit like that.

I am not religious btw just saying it could be a reason why he started wearing the cross.

Eminem is not religious at all. He has never thanked "god" for any award, none of that shit.

He believes in god on a very plain and casual level. Not at all religious.

I remember reading an interview where he said he prayed more often now, but he also said something like hes not like a religious freak or anything. I think it was the interview he did for Respect...not 100% sure though.

And I know people that wear crosses just because they like them. They just wear it, to wear it. Theres no specific purpose or reason.
