Because there is no point. (as far as Eminem is concerned)
Nas & Jay-Z could team up and record an "Ether" type diss track about Em, and it wouldn't change a single thing. Would probably do more damage to Nas/Jay tbh. Eminem has one of the most dedicated/loyal & hardcore fanbases of all time, Stans go hard.
He has nothing to gain.
* World's #1 highest selling artist of the decade (2000-2009)
* Highest selling album of 2010 (Recovery)
He's a modern day version of Michael Jackson

He's lost a TON of respect from the underground fans. He'd gain a lot of it back if he actually tore someone a new asshole.

hopsin is a fan off em and is a major influence to him.Plus he is underground so his diss if it ever happened would be pretty aimless lol.

It's 2011, he is 38 years old. His daughters are of an age where they are totally aware of what is going on, he's been through enough drama, 2 hours away from dying, loss of Proof etc. Like he is going to go all out and start a beef (or respond to a track), what is the point?
I'm sure he would much rather sustain his career, and make sure that people actually want to buy his music, and go see him perform live etc.
Having a LONG, successful career >>>>>> pleasing a small minority of people

Or do you just want another album where Eminem sits down and thinks of as many puns as possible? All he seems to do nowadays is grab a blank sheet of paper and write homonyms. Then he takes the ones that rhyme and slaps them together.
All Eminem needs on his albums now to add to the experience is the sound of a rim shot after every punchline.
