What would your reaction to Recovery be if it was different?

Postby CLV22798 » Feb 20th, '11, 23:42

I know this topic has been brought up before, but I wanted to get people's opinion on this. I always see people complaining about Recovery sounding inconsistent, that it has bad production, and that it doesn't sound like a regular Eminem album. The only thing I could agree with is that it does sound a bit inconsistent. Since Recovery came out, I haven't really listened to it in the same tracklist that it had on the album. This is the order that I hear the album in:

1. Cold Wind Blows
2. Almost Famous
3. Talkin 2 Myself
4. On Fire
5. Won't Back Down
6. WTP
7. Going Through Changes
8. Not Afraid
9. Seduction
10. So Bad
11. Space Bound
12. Love The Way You Lie
13. Cinderella Man
14. No Love
15. 25 To Life
16. You're Never Over

In that order, Recovery sounds alot more consistent to me. Every 2 tracks sound great one after the other, and it's more enjoyable to listen to aswell. If the Recovery tracklist came out like this, would people still be saying that it was inconsistent? I hope people don't just dismiss this topic, because I would like to see what people think.

If your opinion on an album changes 'cause the order of the tracks does, then you are not entitled to an opinion.

That's my opinion.

My opinion of Recovery hasn't changed, I loved it since it came out. and my opinion of it hasn't changed since then. I just think the album sounds better with the tracklist I put up on top.

Same, after a couple listens of an album I stop judging it as an album and start judging the tracks individually, delete the shit ones and throw the rest in my music collection.

A mixed tracklist wouldn't change somebodys opinion from liking something to not liking it or vice versa however some ARTISTS! like Dr. Dre put honor and effort in putting the songs on an album in the right order (energetic songs in the beginning, sad songs nearing the end Etc.).. and mixing the songs into eachother so the album seems alot more coherent which alters your overall perception of the album at least subconsciously.. so it Does matter but it's not important enough for anybody to notice..

No different, really...the order of the songs was already probably the best he could do

Came back to annihilate, the game's in dire straights, as I await
Word on Satan, as I drop, fall to my knees before this Quija board and I pray
Now I lay me down to sleep
I do this shit in my sleep, I’m sleepin' now, imagine if I awake

I think people that don't like Recovery, won't like it regardless of the order of songs. But I know you like Recovery, so you don't agree that with the order that I put up that every 2 songs don't sound great one after the other? To me it gives it a more consistent sound with so many songs sounding good from beginning to end

you barely made any changes to the track-list first of all, and second of all it doesn't matter
My opinion would remain the same
