Imagine Relapse with the bonus songs, Refill + the leaks

Postby robollama » Feb 24th, '11, 03:47

Imagine if Relapse had a track list like this:

Dr. West (skit)
*My Darling
3 a.m.
Insane
Hello
*Oh No
Old Times Sake Feat. Dr. Dre
Must Be The Ganja
*Elevator
*Buffalo Bill
*Things Get Worse Feat. BoB

Stay Wide Awake
Mr. Mathers (skit)
Deja Vu
*Music Box
Beautiful
Crack A Bottle Feat. Dr. Dre and 50 Cent
*Careful What You Wish For
Underground

Taken off:
We Made You
My Mom
Bagpipes From Baghdad
Tonya (skit)
Same Song and Dance
Medicine Ball
Steve Berman (skit)
Paul (skit)

It would be a classic!! Or at least up to Eminem standards. It would easily be on par with The Eminem Show imo. What do u guys think? Why in the world didn't he include some of these songs?! :facepalm2

As a single, sure. It did it's job. I don't really mind it other than that :facepalm - worthy fart sound and the shitty accent.

And you removed Same Song & Dance, Bagpipes and My Mom but kept Hello & Old Time's Sake

EASILY ON PAR WITH THE EMINEM SHOW? Absolutely not.

I fucking love Relapse and think he fucked up a potential classic just with the inclusion of "Crack a Bottle" and "Beautiful". Without those the album is perfect to me.

And I think R2 was probably amazing. The Refill tracks are amazing too. And it's annoying people are so slow and are 'coming round' with a lot of the shit now, people who dismissed the shit on first hear because of SUBJECT-MATTER and are only now hearing the beauty some of us first heard in the actual execution.

But, it's not even close to The Eminem Show. Not even in its most perfect form.

And - you took off some of the best tracks, "My Mom", "Bagpipes from Baghdad" and "Medicine Ball" and left on the two disaster tracks which shouldn't be there. And you took off "Same Song & Dance"? Fuck no. Relapse could of been a classic yes, but with those songs ON!

IDK. I mean I think MMLP>TES>SSLP>Recovery>Relapse>Encore. With the improved track list I think Relapse would be better than SSLP and Recovery. That puts it in the same ballpark of TES for me...

I really like My Mom, Same Song and Dance, and Bagpipes. However, I do agree that if we could have made our own CD or CDs out of the songs he had, we could have made a much more coherent album.

Well for me it's...

1. The Eminem Show
2. The Marshall Mathers LP
3. The Slim Shady LP
4. Relapse + Recovery (tie / can't decide)
5. Encore

The Eminem Show is by far the most coherent, powerful and impressive. It's so unbelievably honed and on point in every aspect. It's close to perfection.

The Marshall Mathers LP is his masterpiece but The Eminem Show his greatest.

As an album, Recovery is technically better to Relapse in terms of... everything sounds like it should be there, no track is out of place to my ears where as Relapse has those two stinkers. But Relapse is almost in a world of its own / too different to compare to any of them.

But, as much as I love Relapse - and I do love it (well, the good material from that era, and that style) - it's not even close to The Eminem Show, as an album and piece of work.

hmmm

Theres a few things wrong with this

imo I don't think Buffalo Bill and 3 AM should be on the same album. They are very very similar.
Buffalo Bill is just a much better version of 3 AM imo

You left Beautiful on and I think to make Relapse perfect you have to get rid of the tracks that don't fit.

You kept Old Time's Sake and Crack A Bottle which are both sub par tracks.

You took out Same Song and Dance which fits into Relapse perfectly and is dope.

And over all this album has the same issues the original album does. Incoherence, consistency, and repetitiveness.

MMLP is a better hiphop album than TES. With an improved track list, Relapse would be on par with TES hiphop-wise. I'm not talking generally, or to an average listener, or anything like that. Strictly in terms of a dope hiphop album, I think with an improved track list Relapse could definitely compete against TES... also remember TES had Drips on it. It wasn't COMPLETELY on point..

MMLP isn't a better hip-hop album. It's a better piece of art.

It's a total masterpiece.

But in terms of construction and... as a musical presentation, just as an album - musically and lyrically, The Eminem Show is head and shoulders above them all.

And I'm not talking generally either. I don't speak in general terms. I'm a hip-hop fan so I'm only ever speaking in hip-hop terms, with hip-hop. Relapse is more entertaining in some respects, it's fun to me because he's just rattling constant descriptive madness, which I love. And the rhyming and flows are pure eargasm...

But, The Eminem Show - the content and the execution, is still better. As a hip-hop album it means more. Relapse is just an excuse for Em to rhyme about crazy shit. Which is awesome, but that doesn't make it a better album. And, I don't consider "Drips" a bad track. I like "Drips". And, it totally fits the album. Where as "Crack a Bottle" and "Beautiful" do not, at all.
