The Evolution of Eminem - The Marshall Mathers LP

Postby EminemBase » Mar 1st, '11, 22:07

Okay so I've just finished my analysis of The Marshall Mathers LP, and the times that it created. Remember, this series is more-so trying to lay-out what impact the album had and what Eminem was doing as an artist. Rather than just a review, though there is some opinion too.

Here's a sample:
When this album hit it was like an atomic bomb; music, and perhaps popular entertainment as a whole had never seen such public outrage. What’s perhaps misunderstood is exactly who was going so ballistic over this album, it was often said to be angry parents, when in fact it was almost entirely naive, reactionary supreme lefties who often look for any excuse to complain and protest at everything.

So, you can find the full post: here.

And, you can find the past ones on the blog too. Next up, The Eminem Show.

Fantastic review. You didn't make it too long and every line makes a good contribution with no wasted words.

I would forward that to anyone who doesn't understand Eminem.

I literally just came into this topic to say it should be in the Eminem section, not chit-chat.

Great write-up, enjoyable read. I wish I could go back to 2000/2001 and witness first hand all the controversy that was going on regarding Eminem. I was too young to fully understand it back then.

Yeah, I found it weird that Base decided to post it in Chit-Chat.

Eminem rarely ever said any thing anti gay on first album but somehow he got people mad.

So in his next album mmlp he made happen in almost every song and wrote things that would piss people off that was hole point of mmlp to attack people that hated him.

And thats why eminem show and his other albums are alot less of it.

He only did it to piss people off and now people expect it and think of it as normal thing from him.

Good point in the end where you said you think that Eminem's best album is TES.

Call me crazy , But is it only me that thinks that The Eminem Show is the best album ever? :D

My favourite album of all time :D

TES and MMLP are my two favourite albums of all time regardless of genre.

But "best"? I don't know that.

Also there's just too much I haven't listened to.

Most albums they concider the greatest is some shitty Rock albums where the lyrics are shit , the melody and beats are awful, So yeah TES is the best...

But thriller is also one of the best

I put it in chit-chat just because... it's my own writing so it felt maybe a bit too... arrogant or presumptious to put it in the main Eminem section. As it's not official news or anything it's just a personal analysis I did.

But, I got a warning from Chet, because it's promoting my site. Which... is not entirely accurate to me. I mean it is promoting my blog as an upshot but it's not like I'm just posting a link and saying "hey everyone check out my site".

I'm posting an original analysis for those who may be interested.

But, looks like I won't be posting anymore. So anybody who is interested in the future ones (The Eminem Show, Encore, Relapse + Recovery), it'd be a good idea to bookmark my blog and stay up to date there. As I won't be posting more here.
