Sticky Fingaz talks past with Dre, Em & 50.

Pretty interesting read... it proves Jimmy stopped 2 more potentially great Aftermath projects.

Sticky Fingaz was crazy back then... ''Black trash'' is certified classic & Sticky is definitely one of the most underrated cats of all time.
The other one he stopped & we knew about is Snoop's. Sticky just confirmed it now, as he confirmed EM took that song outta ''2001'' & put it on ''TMMLP".
Dre have mentioned that too back in the day. He said EM needed 2 months to record his verse after Sticky fucking killed it.

Jimmy stopped the N.W.A. project after ''Up in the smoke'' 'cuz Cube & Snoop were taking so long to get to it & then stopped the Snoop & Dre collabo album... I forgot the name. I just didn't know Snoop was actually getting signed.

No, Snoop was going to do a joint deal with G-Unit and sign with them but changed his mind

we have no proof Jimmy had a hand in any of this, All Jimmy did was offer Sticky some money thatSticky refused, that's not Jimmy's fault, that's Sticky's, he made his choice, took the higher pay and went nowhere.

Can't be mad at Jimmy for not giving somebody a million based off 1 verse

What the fuck are you talking about? I'm talking about way before G-Unit... the Snoop & Dre project & the N.W.A. project... It was all Jimmy. Sticky talks about 98-99 when ''2001'' & ''TMMLP'' were recorded respectively.
Snoop has said many times he made a lot to get Dre in the studio to work on this & then Jimmy didn't want it 'cuz it'd distract Dre out of the rest he has to do. It was the same with N.W.A. but then Cube & Snoop kinda fucked up too 'cuz they were taking too long.

About Sticky, it's the typical Jimmy bull... he talks about ''Onyx'' only doing 500k, not the verse. Jimmy wasn't up for paying 'cuz of it. Of course he's gonna take the better offer, Onyx as a group had legendary status & had following on the West Coast too.

Jimmy stops anything if he's not getting too much money out of it.

I wanted an album so rugged nobody could touch it.
Spent a million a track and went over my budget.
Now how in the fuck am I supposed to get out of debt?

Seems a little extreme.

I would hope that Sticky Fingaz would do great on Aftermath, but it's always so difficult to be successful over there. You either make a huge impact, or you never drop. So while I feel like he could have done good things with Dre, I'm also worried that he wouldn't have gotten the kind of treatment that he required. In a perfect world though, that would have worked out great.

I get why he went for the deal with more money (an extra 300k is nothing to laugh at) but he's talking about an advance, right? Generally, when someone says they got a deal for "x amount of money", they're talking about their advance. So, to me...since I would have to pay that back anyway, I would want to go with the label that would be more likely to allow me to make the most, not necessarily give the most up front.

That bit about Suge Knight trying to fuck Dr. Dre over by naming that shitty compilation from Death Row Chronic 2000 brought back memories of that whole mess. In the end though, 2001 is considered a classic, and that petty move by Death Row is long forgotten by just about everyone.

That petty move. I'm not sure about the etymology of the phrase, if it comes from chess (making your move) or what, but in this context I'm talking about the action they took in slapping together a compilation album and titling it Chronic 2000 in an attempt to fuck Dr. Dre over.

I agree with everything you said.
Of course Sticky would go for the better offer, as he said he's from the ghetto & that's a lotta money. The advance thing is necessary in hip-hop when you deal with major labels & esp. for Aftermath/Interscope 'cuz most of the time artists (Em apart) wait for years & most of them even never drop albums.

''2001'' is considered one of the greatest albums ever made... but mentioning ''Chronic 2000''... it's not the only time when & the only way Suge was trying to milk anything out of the people who supposedly worked with/for him. He'd do anything... but he was totally done after that ''Too gangsta for radio'' mixtape on which he had his new Death Row roster, most of whom random rappers going really hard at Dre, Snoop, Cube, Warren G, Eminem etc. esp. as at the time apart EM all the rest were the definition to what the West Coast hip-hop greatness was. How dumb is to take like 10 less than mediocre & unknown rappers & go against the elite of the legendary rappers who everybody on the West Coast worships? Sadly there were songs of 2 Pac on it too & I don't think if he was alive he'd be on the same album/label with such suckaz (Kurupt, Scarface & Crooked I apart)

I'm not sure how I can be more clear...

That petty move. That petty action they took. That petty tactical decision they made.
