I think it sounds like the kind of concept (blind assumption from the title and a female feature I know, but still) which should be nowhere near MMLP2...
It's almost like he has no real... I mean, obviously from "Rap God" he is truly trying to re-stir some of those themes (the true provocation, the commentary on censorship, hip-hop homages)... but I mean, it's like he can't commit to a FULL vision now...
I wouldn't doubt him if the "Survival" hook didn't make the album.
But seriously, just guessing @ what "Beautiful Pain" might be... regardless of its content, if it's any kind of straight-up introspective song with a broad female hook... that is not in any way MMLP... anything. So if there's that kind of 'balance', he may as well not have called it MMLP2...
Because the point of the original is that it's NOT balanced.
It's back to front artistic bigotry. Which is why it is a masterpiece, and why Relapse nearly was.
Ever since TES, Em has been trying to 'balance' albums, you can even tell by his preview of the Rolling Stone article @ 'it needs this' and with his moves like making Yelawolf do that bullshit 'bitches track'... like he's designing a product by committee.
Until he stops doing that, I fear we'll always be going "oooh, nearly". The 'ooh, nearly' feeling we keep getting is him trying to balance it with needless tracks / not committing to vision.
