Question about Bonus Tracks/Songs

I typically think of the "bonus songs" as tracks that weren't necessarily good enough to be on the original CD but still worthy of being released. Am I completely off base with this assumption?

If I remember correctly, Encore's bonus/deluxe CD had "We As Americans" and "Love you More" on it. Those were two of the best songs - in my opinion - on the entire CD.

I guess my question is whether or not people expect the bonus songs (in this case the additional five songs) to be of a lesser quality than the songs on the MMLP2 CD? I'm buying the Deluxe CD regardless but this is just something I've been curious about for a while and thought I'd try to get some insight from other.

Relapse had good bonus songs and alot of his albums. Bonus does not mean not good enough to make album it means there was alot good stuff some did not make full album.

I have high hopes for the MMLP2 bonus songs, I liked most of the bonus tracks from the last few albums and this bonus disc is extensive, pretty hyped.
