I see you still have faith in the album so this isn't necessarily at you....but all of you are talking about how he has to outsell Recovery by at least like 300k and go platinum first week...then 2 days later "Omg Eminem just wants to sell well and go platinum first week. Sell out. Why is he worried about sales". God I hate stans. He just gave us one of the hardest rap songs he's delivered in years, please try your best not to let your mood swings overflow onto the internet.
"Platinum first week! Platinum first week!" *releases inevitable radio single* "Fuck you Em all you care about is going platinum"

its a step in the right direction for him ... hes still got the mainstream feel , and the wit in his lyrics has suffered. but he got some cool lyrics now
electroencephalogram wrote:He said it himself, he wants to reach people and inspire them. You guys might think he's cooler the way he used to be by trying to mess with other people and diss people for just enjoying life, but I think it's pretty stupid. Only people who are hurt want to hurt people. When people have their life together, they want to help other people get their life together. It says a lot about the mental health of his core fans tbh.

And at this point in time, he needs to prove himself to the old fans that say he fell off, the people that rule him out when speaking about GOATS, the hipster critics that still bash on his music etc. etc. He did all of that on Rap God.... but to do only what? Address them with one song and then return to making the same bullshit they hate you for? It's all INCOHERENT just like Recovery.guiltyhiphop wrote:Now Eminem is a 41 year old man who is worth $140 million and has had a better life than anyone can hope of having. In terms of wealth, yes. But his music states otherwise. He hates the fact that he's famous and wishes to be a "regular civilian", he's divorced and has never been able to find a woman that makes him happy, his music has taken time away from him being a father, his best friend was murdered, and he suffered a dangerous addiction that nearly killed him. I'm not saying he isn't grateful for what he has, but to say he's lived a better life than anyone can hope for just because he's worth $140 million is quite shallow.guiltyhiphop wrote:I understand some of you are angry that he named his upcoming LP MMLP2. I don't know.... to boost sales. That seems to be the only consistent theme with this album. Finding as many ways as possible to whore out your music for extra money, despite the fact that you are already worth $140 million.guiltyhiphop wrote:Em hasn't had anything to complain about for the last 13 years and his drug addiction won't cut it anymore. I'm just as disappointed as you but can we at least give him a chance?
Nothing to complain about? How about the current state of hip-hop and the music industry in general? Wait... that means he would have to complain about himself and bash Recovery just like he bashed Relapse.....darn.
Or how about the many social/political issues going on in Detroit and the very country that it is a part of. Gun Control, The total fucking economic melt down, America's hunger for more wars... these are all topics Eminem was quick to jump on back when his head was on right... even if it was in tongue-in-cheek fashion.guiltyhiphop wrote:MMLP2 will have some great tracks:
Bad Guy, Rhyme or Reason, Legacy, Asshole, Brainless, Evil Twin, Wicked Ways and Love Game will all be the tracks we want.
How do we know this for sure though? Who truly expected to be as disappointed as they are right now? I went from believing this album would be up there with his first 3, to already feeling like it won't be anywhere close to as good as Relapse and possibly being a toss up for his worst album along with Recovery (my preference of course). TRUST ME, I hope I am wrong and the worst song on the album is the Monster and everything else ranges from good to great. I never had a problem with Survival or Berzerk and absolutely loved Rap God.... but as it all comes together..... it's sounding like another incoherent cluster fuck, a quality which unfortunately seems to be apparent in anything Eminem has released since scrapping Relapse 2.guiltyhiphop wrote:Sure we'll be treated to some Recovery like songs but Em has to make those songs to appeal to a mainstream audience.
We've already been treated to Recovery-esque music.... I find it hard to believe that Survival and The Monster will be the only Recovery type songs. It's almost a guarantee that Asshole will be produced by Alex Da Kid and taking a look at Eminem's track record with pop stars these last few years, Headlights will more than likely be one of if not the worst song on the album.
The point is that there is ABSOLUTELY NO REASON for Eminem to cater to a mainstream audience. As I've stated before, Relapse sold 2.2 million and won a Grammy for best Rap album, that was fucking EXCELLENT for a rapper passed his prime and nearing his 40's. Jay-Z hasn't done that and Kanye hasn't done that and that is with them compromising. Eminem's compromise on Relapse was Beautiful and Crack A Bottle.... the latter being a song in which he introduces himself as a rapist and murderer. What I love the most about Relapse, is that it was Eminem being Eminem and he was STILL able to sell that many records and win awards. Just proves to you that HE DOESN'T NEED his albums saturated with pop bullshit to sell records. But apparently he doesn't have enough money despite being worth $140 million and would rather sell an extra 3 million copies.... Why? I don't fucking know. It has me quite flustered.
He's had 3 years to work on this album, and the results thus far have been....meh
Why not produce more of your own music? Or hey, you have friends like Denaun Porter and Andre Young that are pretty fucking great at creating fantastic hip-hop records, why not work with them extensively like you used to?
He got Kendrick on the album. That's fucking fantastic. Why not give a feature to the artists on YOUR label that are FLOPPING due to a lack of management by YOUR label and could not only use the attention, but would also make for BETTER features than the TALENTLESS pieces of shit you have singing your hooks....and if you want females on your hooks for whatever fucking reason....why not reach out to artists that actually HAVE TALENT like Adele or Alicia FUCKING Keys?guiltyhiphop wrote:Ask yourself this, would a top 40 radio station actually play Rap God for 6 minutes or would they rather play a 4 minute track with a famous Pop star?
You mean like Eminem's Berzerk..... a radio single under 4 minutes long that has already been receiving heavy rotation?guiltyhiphop wrote:I still have hope in Em.
The little bit of hope I have remaining is that songs like Bad Guy, Rhyme or Reason, Love Game, and Evil Twin will be classic material. My expectations are set EXTREMELY low right now. I can't comprehend as to why Eminem would follow through with such bullshit. He should've called the album something else and people like me wouldn't be forming such a shit storm over it. He gave us false hope, mocked his core fan base, and has potentially ruined his reputation by going blonde again, calling his album MMLP2, and thus far failing to deliver the way damn near everyone expected him to.
Hope? I HOPE I'm wrong..... but everything Eminem has done thus far tells me otherwise. How is that for getting "real" about Eminem.
So there... I blew my steam on my "fuck MMLP2" rant.....
I'll now go listen to MMLP and cry in a corner.
