I like the album overall so I was never going to say that it "tarnished" anything, but my first impression was that the name didn't quite fit because the content actually encompassed much more than just revisiting the first MMLP. This is Eminem truly coming full circle and more than just a specific throwback to that one album this feels more like we're looking at his career as a whole (though with a strong emphasis on his pre-hiatus days, that much is true). However, in the sense that this is his most personal album to date, that it's really about "him", not just "him now that he's sober" in the way Recovery was, it's only natural for this album to be called Marshall Mathers.
