did mmlp2 tarnish the original

when em announced the album would be called mmlp2, a lot of people thought it would be career suicide..what do you think now you've heard the album?

hellllllll no, its the album that needed to come out. to address the MMLP not necessarily copy it and try to be 100% like it, this is excellent revist to those days at this point in eminems life.

Not at all. IMO this sounds more of a sequel to TES more than anything. None the less this is a classic and the name suits well

i remember when it was announced and i was reading comments on youtube, one comment stuck out saying, "he should commit suicide so it doesn't get released"

i know its just a revisit, but some people are still gonna place it next to the original no matter what. i was just curious to know what the general consensus was

Nah I think it's a great sequel. Shows his growth but also has that same vibe to it as well as that nostalgic feel to it.

I am a "Nostalgic Eminem Stan" as therapist would put it in every post and I say no.

It absolutely was an album that felt like Eminem WANTED to make it, made it for the fans, AND executed musically.

I like the album overall so I was never going to say that it "tarnished" anything, but my first impression was that the name didn't quite fit because the content actually encompassed much more than just revisiting the first MMLP. This is Eminem truly coming full circle and more than just a specific throwback to that one album this feels more like we're looking at his career as a whole (though with a strong emphasis on his pre-hiatus days, that much is true). However, in the sense that this is his most personal album to date, that it's really about "him", not just "him now that he's sober" in the way Recovery was, it's only natural for this album to be called Marshall Mathers.

Not by a long shot. It shows how much his views and attitude has changed over the years. Maybe "The Marshall Mathers LP 2013" would've been a more accurate title but regardless it's a worthy sequel.

Okey, first of all, you cant say ABSOLUTELY NOT. This album, is one one of his best works ever, IMO its better than TES, and really close to MMLP1, but you cant beat songs such as Stan, Kill You etc... Its hard... but this is masterpiece to me...
