an upcoming revival of Recovery?

Postby ladelsofgravy » Nov 5th, '13, 02:58

With Recovery out, many of the people on here flocked back to Relapse in disgust of the modern beats, incessant shouting and corny lines. Now with MMLP2 out, people will soon find it's faults and shortcomings, and Recovery might become TR's new Relapse.

Em has several different facets and we want him to be everything at once. We're never fully pleased.

There was nothing I wanted more than Em to dye his hair blonde again and stop being so serious, yet the mid-life crisis may overstay it's welcome soon. And we may praise Recovery for being a shift in a new direction rather than a retread like MMLP2.

Who knows.

It's possible, but honestly I'd like to think that this isn't the Zelda fanbase.

this will definitely happen lol

The only possible way it won't happen is if TR has put down and trashed Recovery so much that they physically can't make themselves praise it in any way without looking stupid to even their own.

Recovery wasn't as bad as you all say haha but I mean I think we can all generally agree that MMLP2 is much better than Recovery... I doubt that consensus is gonna change.

I think their will be more so of a revival of MMLP1 than Recovery.

I remember reading that after they announced the next Avenger movie would be called Age of Ultron, people brought the Age of Ultron books (don't buy it, terrible book) and it's sales skyrocketed. When they read the Dark Knight Returns quote at Comic-Con to announce Batman is in the next Superman movie, The Dark Knight Returns books (now that book, I recommend) sales skyrocketed too.

So it's probably more than likely MMLP1 will skyrocket more than Recovery.

Recovery was shit IMO. MMLP1 will skyrocket more interest.

Recovery was a great album. Still don't get the "pop" tag thrown on it when I think he cursed more on that album than he did on even MMLP, MMLP2, or SSLP. Especially since this album has The Monster and Stronger Than I was.

I don't know, we'll see. I legitimately think most Em fans love this shit because it has a perfect balance of nostalgia and freshness.

Content wise, I prefer the more mature, refined Recovery-Em, but lyrically, he went off on MMLP 2. The perfect amount of fast "rappity rap" songs and songs with more substance where the lines are easier to pick up on.

I don't mind Recovery. I don't mind Relapse. Now Encore on the other hand, ugh.

But I just love MMLP2. Shady is fucking back. Not saying Relapse or Recovery is bad or shit, MMLP2 is just the album I've wanted him for a while and he killed it.

It's been 3 years since the release of Recovery. I don't see anyone around saying "Please Eminem! We miss the abundance shitty punchlines, tiring delivery, and brain aneurysm-inducing production that overshadows your voice! Please bring it back to the classic Recovery album!". Some people didn't like Relapse, Recovery came out, more people started to like Relapse. End of story. I never understood where this idea that it's basically a cycle of life that will be repeated for the future Eminem discography. Because it isn't.

The idea transcends Eminem's music. It's just a general thing that tends to happen with almost everyone/everything.

And with Em...

Everyone put down Relapse when it came out, they proceed to put it down before Recovery came out, and continued putting it down sometime after Recovery was released. Somewhere in the long 3-year wait (not the start and not the beginning) is when people starting putting Relapse on a pedestal and really giving Recovery down the road.

imo, it was just the production. When Recovery came out everyone loved it more than Relapse. It was real, it was Eminem. Before you completely take that out of context, I mean people were glad to have Em back actually sounding like Eminem and not in a creepy accented voice talking about killing people. At some point after Recovery came out people started enjoying that, though. And I think the sucky production of Recovery just started glaring to everyone.
