Info: Fuckin' Backstabber/Soul Intent is a demo tape which the group Soul Intent released in collaboration with DJ Buttafingers in 1995 on Mashin' Duck Records, the time when Eminem belonged to this group only. The tape consisted of two songs, 'Fuckin' Backstabber' and 'Biterphobia' and one skit. The group did not have a lot of money to spend on production, so the two tracks are built primarily on samples of other recordings, particularly 'Fucking Backstabber'. Since the mid 1990s the group has split up, and Eminem and Proof no longer work with DJ Butterfingers. The demo tape Fuckin' Backstabber/Soul Intent played an important role in the lives of Eminem, the late Proof, and DJ Buttafingaz, however.
The original tape was pressed at about 100 pressings, and has been auctioned on eBay, selling for around $700, because it is so rare. According to a seller from California he got the tape from Eminem's mother, and she has ninety-three of them. When Eminem became famous she tried to sell them for seventy-five dollars.
Track List
- Fuckin’ Backstabber (skit)
- Fuckin’ Backstabber (feat. Proof)
- Biterphobia (with DJ Buttafingaz)
Biterphobia is one of the two songs from a demo tape Fuckin’ Backstabber/Soul Intent which was made in collaboration with DJ Butterfingaz at a time Eminem belonged to a group called Soul Intent. Soul Intent was created in 1995. It was consist of three members: M&M (now Eminem), Mike Ruby aka Manix and Mike Ruby’s brother, DJ Buttafingaz. While Marshall was working hard on the lyrics, Mike Ruby was producing the beats and DJ Butterfingaz was handling the whole scratching technique. If we judge by the results produced by the song 'Biterphobia', the trio was actually doing great work. It is one of Eminem’s first and most unknown underground songs. It is a masterpiece of work that will give you an idea of what Eminem was capable of in his earlier years. Dr Dre offered Eminem the opportunity for a great career, but long before there was a young man named Marshall Mathers who loved to play with words and to make them rhyme. To all the people who think that Eminem was untalented and unskilled before signing with Dr Dre, it would strongly advice you to listen to 'Biterphobia'.
