Why Everyone Gets Hooked On Eminem

Read this, it's true... This is the reason Eminem is considered one of the best.

Okay, well Eminem is Catchy, he's songs are catchy as fuck.
You can hardly say that about any other rap artists.

For me to like Nas, Rakim, Royce, and lyricists like them, I had to listen to atleast 5 of their tracks before I got hooked. Now for eminem, most of you heard My Name Is or Without Me or Real Slim Shady and got hooked.

Now there's these arrogant people, I was one for quite a while, that listen to one song from them and say oh they suck, the reason for that is because Eminem grabbed them easily cause he's catchy they will only listen to rappers who they love from their first song.

So, Eminem could be considered as one of the best, not only because he was a good lyricist or had amazing flow, but the fact that his songs are catchy and people easily get hooked on them.

yeh, thats the whole reason for singles, if you hear and liek a single 9/10 you will check the full album, once you listen to the ablum you will get hooked, the reason eminem worked so well is because non hip hop fans checked him out coz the single was catchy, and hip hop heads checked him out coz his lyrics, put that together and you got a shit load of fans

I`m more with NAvysealkid, although I agree that Tash is right for the majority of his popularity. The first EMinem song I heard was obviously "My NAme IS", and it turned me off straight away, I found the hook so annoying that I didn't listen to the lyrics, It sounded that strange to me I didn't even realise it was rap. It was two years later gong to work in a friends car, when I next heard an Eminem song. It was "Kim" and I was blown away, then further amazed by Stan and the rest of the Marshall Mathers L.p. I bought it a day or two later, and was shocked at the brilliance of the lyrics, I'd never heard such good lyrics in rap before. It made me go back to check out his first album, and realised it was just as good.

For me though the thing that keeps me hooked, is not knowing what's coming next. What will he say next, what clever rhyme or furious flow will be spat out with perfect delivery next? That's the hook.


But, I get what you're saying Tash, catchy songs bring popularity and keep people hooked. Which is great once you have great music and lyrics to warrant the attention, as Eminem does. Pop music only sucks when it's made especially just to con people out of their hard earned money, 2 or 3 catchy singles and a shit album= Robbery.

But then heard The Real Slim Shady with a mate a bit later and we found it funny as fuck
After that i forgot about him for like 3 years, then happened to get back into listening when Encore came out.

But yeah, singles are always crap. But i agree with you

Yes, that is another factor that attracts attention to the music, but it is not what keeps you "hooked" on the Artist (Using the word hooked sounds gay i`m just going with the topic). What keeps the fans is the quality of the music and the lyrics. Any real artists worth their salt, will try anything to reach a bigger audience, yes to make more money, but mostly to reach a wider listening fanbase.

I feel songs like "My Name Is", "Real Slim Shady", "Without Me" & "Just Lose It" to me, are mainstream radio friendly singles which only shows a part of Eminem. Obviously, songs like "Kill You" and "Kim" can't be used for that purpose, those 1st singles are used to draw the mainsream crowd in, and by the time, the 2nd singles starts, the hype of Eminem's first single would draw both rap fans and new audiences, like The Marshall Mathers Lp did with all the controversy, but with these kind of radio-friendly singles, you don't take Em as serious as you would when he released "Lose Yourself", where Em can show his true talent

when i first heard em's radio songs like My Name Is and Real Slim Shady i didnt like him at all, they just sounded too corny to me IMO, but they were his radio hits and he knew they were corny himself

it wasnt until i heard The Slim Shady LP that i started really gettin into his music
it was just a totally different style compared to everyonelse; story-telling, drugs, violence, dark perverted sh*t , misogynistic, crazy double-rhymes ,puns & everythingelse i cant put to words, u can just tell he has mad lyrical abilities listenin to the cd

I cant really explain why his music is so addictive, but it is, proper. It sucks you in and wont let go. Its like when you vacuum clean and you get a sock stuck in the hose. You ant getting it out until you turn that shit off.

He is by far the greatest rap artist of all time. Nobody has his skillz and fun factor.
