Can Eminem bring back Real hip hop and start a following?

Postby SacJB Shady » Nov 26th, '08, 09:05

Mainstream Hip hop is the shit now a days. It's horrible! It's a different genre. I hardly ever even listen to the radios anymore. Why did hip hop go down? What caused it? Now a days, all we have is like T Pain, T.I., and kanye west. Kanye is not as good as 5 years ago in my opinion. Every song is like a club song. I hate it. The only album I will be buying is Relapse from Eminem. I hope he shows all these young motherfuckers that he's dope and they aint all that! I believe in my boy shady! Even in 2008! Do you think if Eminem kicks ass in Relapse, that all the other artists will feel so shameful, that they will tell themselves, you know what?! Why are singing this gay music? If eminem can do it, I can do it! Im gonna actually start FLOWING instead of BSing around!
Now wouldn't this be something!!! Do you think Eminem can be the start of bringing back hip hop?!!

Maybe, time will show.
But T.I is great in my opinion.
after Em, Dre comes, and Jay comes in 09, so does 50
And Outkast is supposed to drop, so are Red and Meth(Blackout 2)
Busta is coming, DMX are coming, maybe Bishop Lamont? Maybe Cashis?
And isnt Rakim supposed to drop that long-awaited album?

mainstream rap has always been bad...sure just cause they were playing eminem in 99 doesn't make it good music...they still played dumb party songs in the 90's

but mainstream isn't the main part of hip hop...and hip hop is doing great in other areas :smoking:

I liked the albums of T.I. and The Game, and the few songs I've heard of Untitled from Nas though.

Interesting take. I think Em will bring back fans who might have strayed from hip-hop the past few years

Real Hip-Hop never died. The shit that gets radio play is rarely real hip-hop. That's how it's been for most of rap's existence. So no, Eminem can't bring back real rap/hip-hop because it never left. It's like bringing sexy back. I still haven't figured out where the fuck I went.

Anyways, I think Em could get some more real hip-hop shit on the radio. But like it was said above Jay is dropping and so are a LOT of real artists. And there's hope for Jay. He should be running out of shit to bite/sample/pay homage to. And DMX is my dude. His album will be sick.

ur examples are terrible, tpain i agree with, and u may not like T.I. or kanye but how the hell can u include them in this list when u have rappers such as soulja boy. 2 be honest hip hop is a little a better, not by much but at least we're over the whole Southern rap take over where groups like dem franchise boys or d4l were constantly overplayed with annoying hits like laffy taffy or lean wit it rock wit it. Currently i think T.I.'s paper trail is actually good, we got lupe fiasco last year, Nas dropped, the game, snoop had some hits. I personally HATE lil wayne but id still prefer him over that south crap. So may not be a huge improvement but rap is a lil better. And yes i do believe rap will get better once em drops (as long as he aint on some encore shit which i doubt he will considering all the stuff hes been through and the high expectations of this album) Detox will have the same if not larger effect as well.
