I believe that's why 8 Mile turned out better than Notorious because if you think about it, 8 Mile took place in a one week period. It had a simple story line that the average person could relate to on many different levels. I watched Notorious, and as someone who was already fairly familiar with the story of Biggie, even I felt that it was too rushed and things weren't explained enough. Because the movie moved so fast, it didn't allow the audience to truly connect with the character and understand exactly what Biggie meant to the Hip-Hop community. And that's what makes movies successful, is when it stirs some type of emotion within its audience. Notorious failed to do that.
Putting Eminem's entire life story onscreen would be a nightmare. Unless they're willing to make the movie 7 or 8 hours long, then maybe it'd turn out decent. But otherwise, I don't think it'll work. Especially after reading Em's book The Way I Am... Em went through a lot of shit. Each phase in his life could easily be turned into a solid 2-hour movie.
