01 - Intro (2/5)
Classic mixtape intro, nothing great about it, nothing wrong about it. I would expect it to be more like a vocal part of a movie, or a skit, rather than a verse.
02 - Haters (2/5)
The topic is obvious. Haters. The obsession with "haters". Over 50.000 hiphop songs are aimed towards "haters". I believe rappers should be flexible, learn to accept hate (if there is even such thing) and stop nagging about it in songs.
03 - Quick 16 (3/5)
Good thing about 16s, is that they are standalone 16 bars and dont need much to be good. This 16 is more about showing off, rather than lyricism or anything, which is what 16s are for. Fairly good attempt.
04 - All The Game Skit (3/5)
Vocal sample from a movie, gets an immediate 3, since its taken from a movie and its not your effort.
05 - Tha Game (4/5)
From the sound of it, its obvious that the mixtape will be more of a skill showdown, rather than storytelling. The effort is good, backed up with features and good production, Tha Game pursues high replay value. And achieves it.
06 - Get That Ass (4/5)
Hoe-loving flow on a retro production, that will make you nod your head to the rhythm. Although short in length, its enough to make you rewind it, one more time.
07 - That ***** (5/5)
Retro sampled instrumental, nice laced vocals, the tape goes into a more personal feeling with this attempt. Though not much of a difference from the previous songs, its a stronger song, something like a crescento in the tape. Excellent effort.
08 - Fuck You Skit (3/5)
It doesnt sound like a skit, and if you made it to be one....well wrong move. As a freestyle is ok, although a downgrade from the previous standard set by "That *****".
09 - We Do Our Thing (3/5)
Thats a definate mainstream attempt. Good, albeit indifferent. Frankly i felt like i listened to 50, T.I. and most of the other money-loving rappers, sending threats to everyone and asking for money. Still a good song, and up to the standard. The empty space at the end of the song downgrades it, it certainly needed 1 more verse. Good effort though.
10 - Sometimes (3/5)
The classic mixtape freestyle, aiming for showing skills off, rather that much lyricism. 10 songs in, and the topic hasnt changed much, thats a negative. It shows some emotion in it though, making it ok.
11 - Ol' Skoo Style (2/5)
The instrumental was definately old school. The flow was not. I expected some EPMD, some Juice Crew stuff, and it really wasnt that. It sounds more like a modern attempt to imitate the old school sound, which is what it actually is. Wasn't really needed in the tape.
12 - MC Hunt (3/5)
Throwing threats to everyone on a thriller-inspired instrumental, making you feel like it came out the wrong horror movie. That was 180 degree turn in the sound. Definately away from mainstream sound, unless your name is Eminem. Only reason to include that song would be its replay value.
13 - Problem (3/5)
The topic is kept in the same tune. Threats at rappers, battle rapping, skill showdown etc. The song has a dirty south feeling on it, mostly because of the beat. It's an average song, and the continuous similarity to the song is starting to be repetitive.
14 - No Way (2/5)
As expected, the topic stays the same, just the instrumental changes. Out of 13 songs, 12 were about the same thing. Mediocre, and as i said in the past reviews, it's getting repetitive to say the same things on every song.
15 - Issues (4/5)
Right on time. I was expecting songs like this at least 2 songs ago. Melodic, moody, good stories about life. Quality is on the rise again in this tape. It sounds a bit like Proof's Kurt Kobain outro.
16 - Face Fears (4/5)
Oooooo-kaaaaaaay. Chipmunks and samples. This sounds harder. Shows more anger and rides somewhere between "No Way" and "Tha Game" keeps you right on track from the previous song, has a good replay value, something that people can relate to.
17 - Hey Spizzy Skit (3/5)
Skit, it gets an "average" immediately. The skit is about a convo, showing only the Spizzy side, until the moment that aaaaa...yeah umm...i should rather let the listeners judge. To be frank, i believe it is a bit lame as a skit, i should give a low rating on this one, but that would contradict my decision to vote for every skit with an "average". I will be generous and give it a 3, for the sake of my choice, but it is the last time i do that. From now on, anything besides vocal parts from movies as skits will be judged.
18 - See Change Aye Aye (3/5)
Back from life stories and anger to swagger and style. It's catchy, kinda reminder of hyphy sound (r.i.p.) and, although not on the level of other songs, you can play it again and again.
19 - Not Worth It (5/5)
That sounds alot better, melodic and emotional like the standout songs of the tape. At the twilight of the tape, thats something that will keep your ears stuck to it for a bit more. The effort produced the desired outcome in this song. Excellent. Perfect move.
20 - Make Me Better Rmx (1/5)
Nooooooooooooo!! No the fuck you didnt!!!! No no no no no. One thing i hate is an unknown rapper putting himself next to platinum and worldwide artists. Either use the instrumental and make your own song on it (sometimes, even that is unacceptable) or at the most, use a portion of their vocals as a sampled hook. You could simply remake the chorus, by singing it yourself. I dont care if you outshined the original artists x100. It gets a low review, for keeping Ne-Yo and Fab in it.
21 - Hate It Or Love It (2/5)
Ah, an internet story, Lol. Anything can sound good on that instrumental. But you really shouldn't turn it to that kind of song. Plus the unmastered vocal Dope laced, downgrades it even more, to a point where there is no replay value. Too bad.
22 - Outro (1/5)
Shouting out the colleagues etc, nothing great about it.
23 - Most Anticipated Raid (3/5)
Ah thats the bonus track. Why did you keep it for bonus? You could fit it in, instead of having it a bonus. It could easily replace the weakest songs in it, or even keep it without removing other songs. Ok attempt, but not fitting for outro. Should have been in the middle of the tape.
OVERALL (30/50)
There were jewels in this album. Problem was the extensive rap about the same topic: swagger, battle rap and "i am what u r not". Otherwise its a fairly good mixtape, dope in its sound. I didnt like the ending, to me its clear that you should stop it at "Not Worth It". In any case, the tape has certain replay value. Out of 4 people reviewed, you kept the quality to a certain level, and although you didnt win the competition, its still early to speak about it.
