Scrubz - Cali Love

Postby Scrubz » Jan 17th, '12, 22:17

Yet another song that didn't make the album but I felt this verse, along with the hook deserved some attention. Wrote it in Cali this past fall, hope you all enjoy. Oh an for those of you who continually skip over my tracks and/or sleep on me, keep at it. You keep me motivated. :smoking:

beats interesting nothing to glorious. maybe if it was made with better quality instruments i could hear something cool.

verse 1 was cool, nothing stood out to me really. just an average verse try to change up the flow every four bars or so. to keep it interesting.

Wasn't really feeling the chorus. qualitys clear enough to hear your voice, but it lacked some reverb and should probably be turned down .5 or a whole db and if you add layers it may help fill the song a little. :)

Its good to see your back man!

When I first seen the title, I thought the beat was gonna be some westcoast shit.. but to my surprise it wasn't. The beat is pretty unique in a way, haven't really heard anything like it.

Lyrics were good man, wasn't really feeling the opening 2 lines but the song picked up heaps! Flow was pretty dope, delivery was the right kinda delivery for the type of song it is. Not feeling the hook though man. The beat during the hook just isn't 'strong' enough, you know? Lyrics were pretty mediocre during the hook.

As you said its a song that didn't make the album so I kept that in mind listening to it, but overall its a pretty good song. Waiting to here some more new shit from you man! :worship:

I don't really get much of the hate, I think this is pretti fucking good

the beat needs a better mixing, but I did loved the feeling of it. You have great beat ideas, but u need to learn to mix them better. And man, where the fuck did you got that trembling flute instrument, been looking for it for ages!

anyway, the verse was kool, steady flow but lacked in creativity I think and I did liked the hook, though it was pretti nice.

yeah, I liked this one, keep at it bro :y:

i was def feeling this verse, the chorus was catchy and your flow is pretty dope on this one. just work on that delivery, at some points its not clicking as well as it should. but other than that its all good :y:

Thanks for the listen guys, im glad that its a throw away for many reasons.

@Vet: thanks for your advice, I always take seriously because you are one of the better all around mc's here.

@Rise: well what a surprise, you didnt like the beat.... :coffee: Nothing new out of you. I can respect your personal taste but when you feedback consist's of "the beat doesnt even fit" and such its hard to take it seriously. I must of missed that kinda terminology in class.... Anyways if it seems like im going negative at you, I am because all you do is come in and say "didn't like the beat" when most other people really like the beat. Now I will give you lee way on this one cuz its old, crappy instruments and not really mixed well. But that does not change the fact of you hating on all of my beats and telling me " it doesnt even fit". lol

@atone: thanks for your opinion, wish there was some feedback but thats for the listen none the less.

@tranquill: good looks nice to hear back from you! Yeah it was a throw away and im glad i did, its lacking sustance for sure. Just a fun little verse I did right when i got home from cali. sorry now dre beat lol.

@Ax: glad u liked it. and as far as this beat, it is very old so that may be the mixing problem. I know you always say my mixing is off, and it may be true but I would like you to reserve judgment until my new stuff comes out. I have been producing some bangers lately and really stepped my mixing and eq game up. So if they dont sound better I really would like you to give me advice!! :worship: oh and that flute is just a sound font that came with a jam pack for GB lol. I just threw a filter can on it i believe.

@tic: good looks man, this is not my best work at all so i'd be cool if you check out some of my other drops along with my up coming album. I will feed you most def.

Good looks all, check out my last verse a long with my first live performance! and stay tuned for the album!

gonna feed this soon man, will edit with feed :y:

EDIT:
sounds decent man, thought u said u dont do overlays unless its a hook?
either way, delivery is there but it sounds boring to me, idk i just dont hear any emotion
but i deff hear the experience if that makes sense lol

beat is ok, should make the flute a little louder cause u made it right?
thats really the only i would do, maybe make the hook part stick out more.

hook kinda blended in with the verses a little, need to do a little more to make it more powerful.
dubbing or different effects or something.

lyrics are ok, its a throwaway so no biggie and its not really my style

that being said not bad for a throw away track man :y:

If your from cali, i dont mind the chorus, if not, i like it less haha, ur verse was awesome though, i liked how you kept pausing on the same rhyming word, it just brought the the song to life more the most and made it alot more listenable, i would say this is worth finishing, i just clicked it quick and listened, didnt read much of what was said, so not sure if you were already planning on finishing this one or it was just a quick project haha, still you sound like you know what ur doing, thats always all that matters with rap, your either good and you should keep doing this, or ur bad and you'll never ammount to anything, my opinion is, if you wanna rap, then rap, ur more than good enough.

Man its been ages since I been on this site to give feedback and have a good listen to some TR tracks. I gotta say mate the quality of your stuff has jumped leaps and bounds from when I was last on here. I like the sounds of this track, the beat was kinda simple and lacked a bit of depth but you complimented it quite well. Its good to hear people putting some melody into thier raps rather than just spitting 16 bars of lyrics without switching up the tone. lyrically it was dope, I could see you were trying to capture that laid back feeling and I think the only thing that let you down was that your voice kinda still wanted to be agressive. flow was on point though bro, I'm feeling it.

All in all it was a dope track, keep up the good work....

I remember hearing this on Facebook and I commented there but this deserves a 2nd comment. Such a chill short song to vibe to, I love blazing crystals in my room to this track, I only wish it was longer (no homo)! Looking forward to our next collab brother!

Yeah, my only problem with this was your production. Not that it wasn't fitting, I just thought it sounded mediocre. The structure of it was dope, possibly whatever sounds you used. I like that it was short and sweet. You sounded pretty comfortable and I like that, and it was a sloid 16. So nice job. Keep it up brah.
