If Yelawolf was smart

He'd release Let Me Out and Father's Day as singles right now. Just saying, they would make it in my opinion with the right promotion...

But he's not smart, so just close this thread
I wanted an album so rugged nobody could touch it.
Spent a million a track and went over my budget.
Now how in the fuck am I supposed to get out of debt?
I can't rap anymore, I just murdered the alphabet.

Father's Day would work... It has the attractive feel, and Let Me Out would definitely work if Wild Boy did.

Well, Yelawolf and Slaughterhouse have both said that Eminem doesn't influence the music they make, and apparently Interscope doesn't demand them to make radio hits because they have admitted to choosing to make these songs themselves. Interscope just doesn't use their money to promote these two acts, so if Yelawolf isn't lying, he had COMPLETE control over the choosen singles.

If Yelawolf was smart, he wouldn't have signed with Shady Records.

You know, I kind of wonder about that sometimes.

I don't think he would have been any worse off, honestly. Shady's tarnished reputation as a label, coupled with the many compromises and poor success of Radioactive might lead one to that conclusion, but I think it's not completely accurate.

He was already at Interscope. The same machine that failed him with Radioactive on Shady would have failed him anyway. The difference is, instead of being on a huge label amongst a slew of other artists, he was associated with one of the most successful rappers ever, on a boutique label. I do think that he got comfortable, thinking that his new spot would help him more than his original position at Interscope did.

The potential for his Shady Records debut is the sad part. I think Eminem could have used his clout to pressure for more promotion, but it just didn't happen that way. We could have had a more genuine album, as opposed to the compromised nature of what we got, and it would have sold the same.
