Skylar Grey on Shady Records? Discussion Thread

Skylar has now added shady records to her labels on her twitter, personally I thought it was only a matter of time before she signed. Do you reckon a deal has been made and if so what's your thoughts?

I always thought she was going to sign. It makes sense, she does the hook on "Our House." Idk it just leads me to believe that she is a member of "The shady house"

At this point there is nothing wrong even if Em signed her on Shady as she could always provide great hooks & esp. as he's exec. producing her first album anyway. I'm not sure if they would want this or not though.
I remember when Dina was rumored to be getting signed too back in the day, even though the situation was way different.

I've checked her twitter a few times today to see what was going on with her and odd future and noticed that she took the "Shady" reference off. It's just Kid.../Interscope now. So, I guess they just have a distribution deal, or something.

Skylar Grey is stepping out of the shadows and into her own. The singer-songwriter has officially signed a new record deal and is prepping an album for release this year.


After penning and lending her voice to songs for Eminem, Dr. Dre, T.I., and Lupe Fiasco, the 25-year-old hitmaker will release her solo album through producer Alex Da Kid’s label, Wonderland Music, and Interscope Records. The lead single is due this spring.

Grey, who appeared onstage with Dr. Dre and Eminem at last month’s Grammy Awards, will perform the hit she co-wrote for Diddy-Dirty Money, “Coming Home,” on tonight’s episode of “American Idol.”

“Getting to perform on television with Eminem and Dr. Dre still doesn’t feel real to me and now to perform with Diddy-Dirty Money in the course of a month is unreal,” said the Wisconsin native. “I’m really excited about the opportunity to perform on ‘Idol.’ It’s incredible to have all of this leading into my album coming this year—I am so fortunate.”

Grey, born Holly Brook Hafermann, was previously signed to Linkin Park’s Machine Shop Recordings in 2004 and recorded as Holly Brook. She appeared on Fort Minor’s single “Where’d You Go” and released her debut album Like Blood Like Honey in 2006.

No idea about shady records, but apparently she signed a deal with interscope.

Yeah... like legally affiliated by whatever.... not like technically signed as a solo artist on the label.
But that's possible to happen too even though I'm not sure it will.

He's gonna be submitting beats regardless if she's coming on Shady or not... I think his time for Shady songs is up though.

In this interview from SXSW, at the 0:16 mark she said she caught a Yelawolf show and that "she was glad to support another Shady artist." Does that mean that she "feels" like she's part of Shady Records even though not officially... Or did she just mean she was glad to support another artist related to Em?

Dont really care if she`s at Shady or not.
If EM decides to have a female on his next album i hope its her.Her voice is great and she has good hooks.
