Shady Records not the best anymore?

Postby Tomer666 » Jul 19th, '12, 17:39

I love Shady Records and its artists very much way more than any of Cash Money Records' artist but look at the situation.. Shady Records only big names are Eminem which is incredibly amazing like always and 50 Cent, any other rapper of Shady Records is not famous.. while Cash Money Records', I hate them so much but still.. they got way more big names.. they got Lil Wayne, DJ Khaled, Drake, Nicki Minaj, Jay Sean..
It seems to me like Shady Records' new generation is not succeeding anymore.. only ones were 50 Cent and Eminem..

What's your opinion?

You don't say?

SR hasn't been relevant since 05. YM,MMG & GOOD are running rap game atm, and hopefully followed by groups like Black Hippy.

It makes me sad the fact that any underground rapper who wants to be promoted very well in the rap game he should join YM even though he might extremely prefer Eminem.

But that's something they have to do to succeed.. fact is that YM is handling their new generation pretty well, most of their new artists got famous real quick.

I think Eminem should be more open-minded about artists, YM are signing artists like Nicki Minaj, Drake, Jay Sean.. Eminem is kind of seeking for gangsta rappers, despite Yelawolf there is Slaughterhouse who I like but they're a group of typical gangsta rappers (as far as I know, and I don't know a lot about them), D12 who's old school rappers, Yelawolf who's actually the only one from the new generation of Shady who might have a lightening future.

How come GOOD run the rap game? Just heard about it and did a quick research, the only big names they got are Kanye West and Kid Cudi.

It's because they constantly put out music - good music (no pun intended).

They have famous artists like Kanye and Cudi, but also soon-to-be big names like Big Sean and Pusha T.

If Shady Records constantly put out music (like they used to), they'd be at the top of the game.

I think Shady Records should stop with the groups and start working quickly, plus Eminem should use his connections and use the fact that he's number 1 rapper at the whole world right now and use it to advertise Shady Records' new generation while keeping them active, let's take Yelawolf for example if he'd release stuff more often then Eminem could say for example "Yelawolf's new single "The Fuckz" is now in stores and available worldwide" and say it whever he can, on facebook, on interviews on TV.. where the fuck he wants.

Hesky - They had times when they were the best.

One question, how are you sure that Pusha T and Big Sean are soon-to-be big names?

Well, whether you like the artists or not, it's because of the music they put out. It's appealing, it's entertaining to listen to, it's good.

Radioactive was pretty much the opposite. I understand that Yelawolf wanted to stay with his roots, but it's nearly impossible to do that with today's crowd.

Unless Yelawolf was a household name, then he could release an album like Radioactive with no problem. BUUUUT, since he wasn't, it was probably best to add a few appealing songs to the media

Sorta like Slaughterhouse did with "My Life". But Slaughterhouse isn't that appealing either.

If Radioactive was promoted by Interscope like an Eminem album? It would've sold 100 000 albums AT LEAST. If Made in the USA, Animal and Radio were the singles.

It's something about YM they promote their new artists very well, if Radioactive was given to YM it would be way more known.. I still don't know what is it that they're doing that actually make their artists become famous so quick.. trying to figure.

^ And he didn't write this track. He went in the booth and just spazzed. I hate when rappers brag about that, but in this case it's pretty cool.

They have assloads of artists signed that didnt get famous and probably will never. The ones that did, all ended up compromising their art beyond recognition, and they have no plans of going back.

I gotta ask why you consider a label which releases stuff constantly a good label? How does it make the label good?
