If Slaughterhouse had formed around 2000.

Everything related to the record label Shady Records, including Slaughterhouse and Yelawolf.

If Slaughterhouse had formed around 2000.

Their hype would have been huge. Imagine if Em had signed them in 2002. God, their hype would have been incredibly huge.

I feel the main reason why no one gives a shit about them nowadays is because in the Hip-Hop era we live in now, this decade, isn't focused entirely on lyrics. Just a catchy beat with a catchy hook. But, back in the past? If they were signed ten years ago, they would have been a household name TODAY.

Hopefully, they're not abused and just recycled and forgotten about. My hopes for the album are steadily rising however.

If Young Money or GOOD had signed Slaughterhouse right now? Well, I don't think we'd be seeing the same Slaughterhouse lol. Especially not with Young Money.

This is a really interesting idea to me, because look at how ridiculously popular Em is today, after Recovery. He's still extremely popular, and I think Shady/Interscope is still operating under the assumption that just being associated with Em will lead to popularity (case in point: Yelawolf). And Em's level of popularity hasn't changed, but that strategy doesn't work anymore.

Yup. They better really step it up with SH if they want them to sell well.

These days Em doesnt have nearly as much media attention. In the early 2000's he has on MTV every few days promoting the fuck outta his shit and his label, he also had press covering his controversial lyrics and members of congress trying to ban shit etc...

Nope, they wouldn't have been household names except for Royce and Budden because Royce would've been in BME and Budden could break out of Slaughter. They'd just e more popular than they are now IMO.

Budden first dropped his album in 2003 and it was in the top 10 on the billboard charts. He was already a success and somehow let it get away.

On facebook SH has around 144,000 likes and something like 50,000 individual? I don't think all of their individual likes combined equal the 700,000 Yelawolf has and he didn't sell like anyone hoped. It kind of sucks Em is putting more effort into SH than Yelawolf and Yela had waaaaay more mainstream potential. I don't see SH selling, all the numbers are against them. Theres just not a market for vocal groups in the music industry right now either. People are too picky, they like one artist and not another. Smart money would have been to release a Yelawolf single featuring Em and a SH single featuring Em. That would have sold them as Em's artists.

It has a lot to do with em being out more and being in the headlines 24/7. His music is just as popular but he's not as big as he was.

This.

I think the biggest problem that Shady artists face is that they get no radio support. Also back in the day it wasn't as easy to just download an album from an artist. If you wanted the music, you had to go buy the CD or have someone that had it burn it for you. Now it literally takes about 5 minutes to search, find, download, and upload the album to iTunes for free.
