Starting to like Yelawolf

His shit pre-Radioactive >>>

(Really digging this joint)

I can actually understand the guy, and can actually bob my head to his music. Never thought I'd see this day, especially after listening to Radioactive.

Not that Radioactive was garbage or anything...it was his voice mostly that turned me away.

That's kind of how it happens with Yelawolf.

You'll be like "mehhhhhhhhh" for a long time, and then something will just spark up and things will start falling into place.

I went from

"mehhhh" (Pre-Radioactive)
"hmmm" (Post-Radioactive)
"Yeahh!" (After I heard Arena Rap)

Trunk Muzik 0-60 is a really good EP. Not even finished listening to it but I'm really impressed. Got my hopes up for Trunk Muzik Returns.

What's his next album, Love Story? Hopefully, it won't disappoint.

Damn Blu, you've been sleepin' on Yeller!

Love Story will be interesting, I think. Trunk Muzik Returns will be a good indication of the risks he's willing to take creatively, but I don't think it will sound the same. I'm fairly certain he said that Love Story is about his "love story" with Hip Hop.

Trunk Muzik is about driving around to some good story-telling, nice hooks, banging beats...what have you. Good stuff, no doubt. Love Story will more likely be a more conceptual piece. When you look at his history, this will be the first time since Creekwater that we're really getting an album from Yelawolf that (hopefully) isn't compromised in some form or another.

When you listen to that album, you can hear what he was trying to do. He produced it all on his MPC, and he was piecing together this picture of his world. I think that's what Love Story will be, a picture of his world, and how he came to fall in love with hip hop. He's talked about making timeless music since Radioactive, and his injury when he ruptured his spleen. I think Love Story will be his attempt at that.

I'm looking forward to it.

I think "gangster" was the spark for me. I guess I need to listen to all of the original trunk Muzik and see if any tracks stand out to me. For some reason after really not liking yelawolf after gangster came out and I went back and listened to the other 2 from TMR I'm actually pumped to hear the rest. Hopefully I will really enjoy some tracks and get more into yelawolf

That kind of sucks that you just listened to Radioactive. I recommend Trunk Muzik (original), Stero, and Arena Rap. Ballad of Slick Rick E Bobby is good too.

Honestly though, the first time I heard Yela was on Mixing up the Medicine with Juelz Santana. That hook is amazing.

Arena Rap can't be fucked with.

Yelawolf is the definition of "Meh".

Not unlistenable, but nothing to write home about.

His verse on 1Train sounds so dope during his "Alabama's climbin' up" rhyme scheme.

I don't really like him much, his cypher verse was pretty bad IMO.

I've heard other tracks here and there, I remember checking out some of his stuff when he signed to Shady Records and I wasn't too impressed.
