50 Cent talks about his favorite rappers

Postby Rattle1 » Apr 18th, '13, 22:50

He doesn't talk about Eminem anymore :(

G-Unit's 50 Cent recently dished out his top five favorite hip-hop artists and revealed, despite issues with fellow hip-hop star Nas in the past, God's Son belongs on his rundown.

Along with dishing out his all-time favorites, Fif admitted rap veteran KRS-One was one of his favorite emcees back in the day.

"Top five favorite rappers, for me, would be artists like KRS-One, Rakim, Biggie, Tupac, one of my favorites too, Nas was one of my favorites early on," Fif revealed in an interview. "[Favorite childhood artist?] KRS-One because the aggression that he came with, with 'The Bridge Is Over.' Like, hip-hop's always been competitive so it's always been battling, it's been a part of the artform and he came in with the kind of energy that was necessary for you to make a statement."

Great read... thanks! :y:

Don't worry about him not mentioning Em... it's pretty normal considering the list the put out there.
He's always said Em's the best rapper, those are just his fave ones... ones he looked up to when he was younger. It's totally normal esp. from the perspective of a NY dude. As a matter of fact it's obvious 50's career is so influenced by KRS... so many similarities.

That's true too... 50 always praises Em & mentions him all over the place which often makes people say he's dickriding.

Best list from a mainstream Hip Hop artist in a long time, and no sign of Lil Wayne either, win!

Nah 50's from New York... he'd never give crazy props to Wayne. He naturally pointed out his favorite 5 rappers as the ones who mostly influenced him to be one as well. I think it's natural for any artist to point out his favorite artist from before the time he.s become a big artist as well.

I appreciate what he did for Hip Hop, he's definitely a pinoeer of technical Hip Hop but his rhymes rarely extend beyond bragging and Islam.
He's held in high regard but compared to a lot other MC's, he's nowhere near on there level.
Still I respect Ra have an album of his, so I can't hate but his stature is highly overrated.

Paid in Full was ground braking, out of this world & literally changed hip-hop... from there on Rakim was the role model to any rapper who came after... including Nas. His longevity as one of the greatest definitely didn't work but still his his prime time alone is enough to hold him there.
