"Men lie Women Lie, But Numbers Dont" a qoute that many die hard hip hop fans will link to rapper Jay-Z, but in a recent Interview 50 was seen agreeing with the comment. Now if that was the only thing that happened it would be no problem, but 50 was addressing Jay-Z's alledged comments towards 50's first week sales for his latest album Before I Self Destruct.
While being interviewed in Paris, 50 had a lot to say about his numbers in general compared to Jay-Z.
"When you say something as vague as 'Men lie, women lie, numbers don't,' how do you take that as a disrespect, a response," Fif asked in an interview. "If we did look at the numbers, you'd see I did his career, my first two records. I did what he did in 15 years in 4 years. Like the numbers? You don't wanna talk about the numbers."
The response from 50 came as no surprise. 50 who has been the butt of many jokes since news surfaced of his dissapointing record sales. One of the most vocal artist in taunting 50 has been one of Jay-Z's artists, Rick Ross. During a birthday party for DJ Khaled, Ross grabbed the mic and had some disparaging words for the Queens rapper.
"We also celebrating the demise of a p*ssy," Ross told a crowd of fans during a concert performance. "R.I.P. to the donkey. We buried him. It feeel good, n*gga. Don't look surprised, you knew he was gonna do it. It's only one record that can describe the feeling..."
Since the first weeks sales of 50's latest album which only sold 160k. He has gone on to sell only 40k in his second week, totaling the lowest numbers of his career.
As for 50's declaration of doing Hov's entire career in only four years, in terms of total album sales, that statement is false. After some number punching Defsounds.com discovered that World Wide Jay-Z has sold roughly 44 million records to 50's 32 million (BISD not included). For records sold with-in the United States, Jay-Z still wins, selling 24 million to 50's 14.3 million.
