Noise music?

Postby dead prez » May 12th, '11, 23:49

I'll be the first to admit this isn't for everyone, and if you're unfamiliar with it, you'd probably wonder why anyone would subject themselves to ear torture. But if you do familiarize yourself with it, or try to understand why anyone else would like it, you may appreciate it. It's sorta like Black Metal in that it's a very niche genre and polarizing one at that, those that approach it unitiated may hate it or find it offensive. Personally it appeals to your primal senses and is a catharsis, a release of aggresions, sorta.

I dunno, I do find this more melodic than most Merzbow songs, though.

That's one of the most melodic songs by Merzbow indeed. I don't consider this music, I do consider it an artform that like you said could appeal to people's most basic needs. There are people who actually listen to Merzbox and find a deeper meaning in the noise, see the layers etc. I just don't have the willpower atm to try to do that, because I simply don't find the music very appealing. I do love me some noise in other genres though, music that incorporates noise can sometimes be amazing.

Do you have any other suggestions if not Merzbow, he's the only one that I listen too, and occasionally at that.

Actual noise music? Similair to merzbow? I don't know many from the top of my head but I could look it up for you if you're interested. I do have a lot of 'normal' music that has noise in it, which I could give you.

I got to go now but I'll check in tomorrow.

My Bloody Valentine - Loveless is a classic noise rock album

Bands like Wavves and No Age use noise a lot, which results in:

Heard Bloody Valentine and have a few of their shit.

That song you linked was dope though, I could see that I'd like their music already.
