What kind of music are you looking for? Seeing as how you said 'broaden' I guess I can give you anything? It's hard though man, because there is music that needs a 'trained' ear to be appreciated. I could give it to you now, but it could be that you think like what the fuck is this shit and never listen to it again, which would be such a waste. To really broaden your music taste you have to go from 'entry-level' bands to other bands that go a bit deeper every time, and then after a while you'll start appreciating the weirdest shit. That's how it went for me, and I guess Maybe has a similar story.
I started listening to Kings of Leon (before the sex on fire bullshit that is), and they introduced me to great rock music. I started with their third album called 'Because of the Times', it's a great rock record and very accesible. Falling in love with the record, I started listening to the older albums of Kings of Leon which were a lot more rock and roll, raw, crazy. Took a while to get used to but 'Youth and Young Manhood' is my favorite Kings Of Leon album.
So I guess what I'm saying is that that's a great place to start.
After Kings of Leon I don't really remember what directions I went, I guess I chased the bands that were similar to Kings of Leon, which resulted in me finding some great albums like The Strokes - Is This It. I also tried looking in different genres like Folk and more singer songwriter kinda stuff. One of my all time favorite albums still is Bon Iver - For Emma, Forever Ago. Like I said before, after discovering I loved music like that I got into The Fleet Foxes, Right Away Great Captain (thanks chetty) and other older Folk music.
I found out I really loved dark music, I loved dark brooding atmospheres and I still do. By chance I discovered Interpol - Turn on the Bright Lights. It was dark, sad and became one of my favorite albums. Through Interpol I learned that they were often compared to Joy Division, which is an old post punk band from England. The iconic lead singer Ian Curtis suffered from depressions and epilepsy which was also the cause of his dark music, his monotone voice really fit into this all. Their debut album called Unknown Pleasures is a classic, listening to that album will make you understand where certain bands today got their inspiration. Ian Curtis hanged himself while listening to Iggy Pop's The idiot. Iggy Pop is one of the first artists who played post punk music, the music still sounds fresh despite it being more than 30 years old.
After that I got into a lot more experimental stuff and also into Post Rock. My favorite post rock band is by far Godspeed You! Black Emperor, it is also my top 5 favorite bands ever. I suggest you download 'Godspeed You! Black Emperor - F♯A♯∞' and Godspeed You! Black Emperor - Lift Your Skinny Fists Like Antenna's to Heaven. It's so great, you just have to listen to it to experience it.
Well this turned out a bit longer than I thought, I just tried to give you some starter points if you really want to broaden your musical taste combined with my history. I wanted to show you how your taste gets broader the more you listen to music and try to find out where it came from, where it's going to etc. I could give you some great electronic/ambient albums as well.
The albums in green are great and accessible, if you enjoy them like I did you will certainly broaden your music taste.
