How to fix MTV?

Postby J.R. » Sep 8th, '12, 00:30

Me and a few friends were discussing this..

Post your ideas. How would you make it better?

My only Idea: Assign music times.
10:00 AM
Rock

12:00 PM
Rap

2:00 PM
Pop

4:00 PM
Requests

6:00 PM
Classical

8-12 AM
TRL, Music Discussion Mix Kind of show.

Easy as pie. Just a cool little discussion IMO.

I'd immediately turn it back to majority music. I'm tired of all that reality shit man, gimme music. The channel's not called Reality Television.

MTV sucks nowadays with all those realities. They should change the name of the channel at this point because there is no music. So anything would be actually better. There was a time when they used to have cool programs and music. R.I.P

Yeah, get rid of all the reality shows, and honestly I would just have them play some old ish. Like, let's have a rerun of all the Yo MTV raps episodes, a rerun of all the TRL episodes, rerun of some old shows like The Sausage Factory, and the rest of the day let it be all music and some MTV RapFix with Sway every now and then. It'd also be great if they play more alternative music, and I'm not saying (just) Hip-Hop, but indie-rock and all that shit. Some show about skateboarding would be cool, Pimp My Ride if they bring X back, America's Best Dance Crew is dope, that can stay, and that's about it. Oh and, I almost forgot, definitely a rerun of Chappelle's show.

I don't feel MTV needs fixing. It isn't a music channel any more despite it's name. This is it now and we have plenty other channels and ways of listening to music and watching music videos now.

but not everyone is on the internet 24/7. Some people (like me) really miss the days of just turning on the telly and finding music you did not look for that is dope as fuck. OR, breaking new GOOD artists (see Eminem) or amazing one hit wonders (see Vanessa Carlton).

Just play some fucking music thats NOT on Top 40.

How to fix MTV? Make it about music again instead of reality shows.
