Mumford & Sons- Babel

I'm surprised no one has made this thread yet. What did you guys think of the album? On first listen I thought it was great but I'll need more listens to see if it was better than Sigh No More or not. Ghosts That We Knew is probably my favorite song.

Eh, I personally can't stand them. Their sound is annoying to me. Nothing about them sounds refined at all. I mean, it kinda sounds like a group of people without any prior knowledge of music decided one day that it would be ironic to make another terrible hipster band and 9 months later they pushed their album out of the birth canal of awful.

I like them. I don't think they're the best thing ever like a lot of people do but I still think they make good music. I don't like his voice that much, I prefer a softer voice like Dallas Green's, but it's pretty good song writing and I think the music part of it is also good. Granted, I don't know much about the genre and have only been exposed to a small amount of music outside of Hip-Hop so I can't compare them to that many other bands.

I think my resistance to them is due to the fact they're so hyped, and all I see is average / below average. Dallas Green is a good comparison--except City and Colour do things correctly, lol. If you want good bands from that genre, look up bands like Cloud Cult, Blind Pilot, Bright Eyes, Gentleman's Pact etc.

All really good bands that, IMO, do what Mumford and sons do, but better.

Yeah I agree that City & Colour is much better than they are, but I still like their music. I'll check out the bands you recommended.

Wow I feel like a dumb ass. Gentleman's pact is a song, IDK why I listed it as a band. I had just woken up, lol. Conor Oberst sings it. he's the singer from Bright Eyes.
