The sequel to 'Empire State of Mind' wasn't a total disaster, but as a separate song it wasn't anything special, either. Soulful and raw it may have been, but in this day and age, few people would have preferred it over the original.
With 'Love the Way You Lie (Part II)', however, the same can't be said. Unlike ESOM Part II, LTWYL Part II is far better in the sense that it actually WORKS. Not only does it masterfully illustrate a destructive relationship between two scorned lovers, but it also appeals both to contemporary listeners as well as to those looking for a good song lyrically.
Em and Ri-Ri did it again... create a collaboration so good it practically has 'HIT' written all over it. If this doesn't get released as a single [the song is from her new album 'Loud'], I'm gonna have to murder myself. 'Cause it's just that damn good.
