I don't like the content at all. The lyrics themselves are scattered and very poorly structured. Oh and the accent isn't the best either. I much prefer the TGW, SWA or Buffallo Bill accents. The second verse is average in comparison to the others. I loved the diss but it wasn't executed as well as it could've been. That bar-splitting in "shove a typewriter up, Per-" is really REALLY annoying.

On ther other hand, The rhyming is fucking amazing, as is the flow. Love the beat and the hook as well. Definitely album-worthy. I wouldn't be a good intro at all though.

I can see how the second and third verse would relate to the "controversy" subject. Don't really see how the first verse could be a part of that concept, except for maybe when he's talking about drugs, but that's really not all that controversial...

Props for this. I always knew the song was pretty dope lyrically, I just never really bothered to examine some of the writing. :y:

There's no doubting Eminem was in a zone whilst writing this. The rhyming is brilliant. Granted the accent makes certain words rhyme which otherwise wouldn't, but it's still very well written. The internals on this song are ridiculous. All of the verses are pretty dope but the third verse is insane.

Awesome post and thanks for taking the time to colour code it all. Makes it much easier on the eye.

I guess the first verse has a hint of the "I'm back" theme, his closing lines are pretty cool.

Yeah, the colouring of multies makes it a lot easier to see and makes me personally a lot more appreciative of any artist's lyrical effort.

Tbh some of the stuff you highlighted doesn't actually rhyme. E.g. "pendulum" does not rhyme with "dented it" and there's lots of instances where you've highlighted pairs of a more than one word but only the final word of the line rhymes rather than there being multies, e.g. "little snack" and "look who's back" or "out of gas" when its only the word "gas" that rhymes with anything in the previous/next lines. (though maybe this was unintentional). The ones Amadeo picked out are nice, though. Overall I think the song is decent with some cool rhymes here and there and a pretty dope beat.

The thing I love and hate about Em's accent is it opens up a bunch of 'cheats' when it comes to rhyming.

You can see it as a rhyming 'cheat', or you can enjoy the massive rhyming. lol

This song get's less credit then it deserves really Menzo..If we look past the ego flexing accent and other bullshit we just peer right into the sheer skilful rhyming structures embedded in this track.
It boggles the mind how an individual can write such a complex song and act like it's a joke.

I feel horrible that I've never heard this song before now when I clicked on this thread.

Some, not all, but some of the accent rhyme feel forced, but the rest are just so smooth and intricate. Em is amazing, and I can't wait for an album that's a cross between H:TS and Relapse. That would be sooo dope.
